I would suggest a few easy answers (UK, China, France, Brazil, Australia) or similar "big" countries and then users could start to pick out and understand the letters and actually read the more difficult countries once they had some point of reference.
You can do that without easy countries, just by pattern matching which arrangements of dots show up in which places. I actually think it's perfect like this.
