There are just too many random California cities...

Wow. This. Is. One. Of. The. Best. Quizzes. on. Jetpunk. Enough gimmes to get hooked and enough killers to keep me coming back, and enough places I never heard of but have a chance of creating a city-sounding name and getting it anyway. Plus enough technical features to admire too. Thanks Stewart. 13/20 on the 3rd go.

Wow. This. Is. One. Of. The. Nicest. Comments. on. JetPunk.

But seriously, thanks a lot Jeremy, means so much to know people enjoy my quizzes. I'm really enjoying making all these randomised quizzes, so many possibilities!

13/20 sounds like there's plenty of tries left to get 20/20 😉 Then the more difficult job of getting 20/20 reliably!

How do you randomize the answers on a quiz, anyway? I've been wanting to make one for a while.

It utilises JetPunk's copy-quizzes function. A guide (written by me) to how it works can be found on JetPunk's subreddit wiki here! If you need more help with it, feel free to ask a question on there or here and I'll happily help out :)

Good quiz, but not for non Americans. Please make same quiz for every country on earth.

There is also a 1M Cities Version, however this is currently now featured (and over half are from Asia)

I meant *not featured here. I realise this is confusing otherwise!

On my round, I got Cambridge, Newark and Worcester just because I saw UK cities in the anagrams. But I agree, it is very challenging otherwise.

Level 74

I'm really good at anagramming and I know most of the city names, but there's just not enough time, so after 3-4 tries, it's just frustrating.

Might be worth considering to have the letters in all caps. The smaller case ones so easily blend into one another on the screen and it makes it unnecessarily harder.

I can’t change this sadly, this is down to QM’s JavaScript for all the word scrambles which lowercases all the characters (as well as removing accents)

Ah well. Will have to make do until he changes it (if he does). In the meanwhile I've learned there's a Hollywood in Florida and of 20 towns there'll always be 2 that are totally impossible to decipher.

I too only learnt of the Floridian Hollywood through making the quiz! And those 2 are usually from California is what I find. But with more practice, I’m sure everybody could get there eventually.

That. And then a dose of luck. Apparently it only took 28 tries in the end, although it sure felt like more.

A+ for effort at least! 28 is better than I’ve done (I’ve done it 10 times and can’t get more than 15 yet). Now to come back tomorrow and see if you can repeat that success! 😉

Now it's tomorrow (the quiz is reset for some reason). I've tried once so far.
+2
Level 68
Jul 26, 2019
The quiz got reset because the way JetPunk handles scramble quizzes was changed, and because of that this quiz needed changing manually (since the scramble column was in the middle). All this meant that the stats got reset. Sorry :/

Great quiz This is more challenging than the United States state anagram quiz for sure (it took me three tries) as there are many choices. I almost wish I wouldn't have scored all 20 so quickly as it is fun. The populations are helpful. A map version would be awesome but probably impossible to create. I'll take it again anyway!

Super quiz. I think I caught a break on the city list I was given. Heard of every one except Sparks, NV. But with only a single vowel, it didn't take long to stumble upon the correct answer.

surely there must be a way to make l's and i's and m's and rn's more easily distinguishable. it doesn't seem like part of the quiz should be a struggle to make out the letters
