More seriously, that's a funny idea. As others have said, there are a few problems but probably hard to fix... I had the two pairs CAR with the Congos, so that the frontier between the Congos didn't disappear.
Yeah the only way for this to be "fixed" would be by removing the majority of the answers, making the quiz almost boring as they'd be only around 50 possible pairs, as opposed to 214.
Technologically it could've been possible, yes. However I decided not to do this, since I believed it would make things simpler for most users. So only mainland borders of countries are considered.
South Sudan & Sudan got missed by me; apparently I'm still used to seeing them together. They split in 2011, with South Sudan remaining "the most recent sovereign state with widespread recognition," according to Wikipedia.
Does anyone else imagine you are on a game show and they've tossed a map of the world on a screen and you have 4 minutes to guess the merged countries for a million dollars and you wonder "Do they know I am a jetpunk user?"?
Just wondering, is it possible for Russia and Poland/Lithuania's borders to be merged with Kaliningrad? I have played the quiz a lot (probably over 100 times) and I've never seen this combination.
Another great quiz. I had Vietnam and China merged, which was too difficult for me to see because the border between them is small and Vietnam has a long border on its west so it looked intact :(
Or just notice that any countries merged with more than one other count as one point per pair (so if it’s merged with two other countries, it scores two rather than just one)?
I wonder if some of these merges might happen one day. North and South Korea I could definitely see. I had Germany and Austria and well, that's happened before, to say the least. Also had USA and Canada, which sure isn't happening anytime soon, but with enough pressure from climate change pushing enough Americans into Canada...I mean hey, it could happen?
I hear that Alberta is frustrated with paying for other canadian provinces, and may leave Canada as a result. Not sure how prevalent that independence movement might be, but apparently one of their options was to join the US as the 51st state.
It is kinda tricky when you have four adjacent countries all merged, and you only detect the missing border between the middle ones (in my case Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina). As soon as they turn green, the outer two countries appear just fine, and you can't figure out which other countries the heck you are still missing.
It is possible for Serbia and Kosovo to be merged? Because if so, that could create some, uh, problems. Same thing with South Korea, North Korea, Sudan, and South Sudan.
I got Czechia and Slovakia, a four way country between CAR, Chad, Nigeria, and Cameroon, China and Mongolia, Brazil and Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Egypt and Sudan, and Mali and Senegal.
Also, I figured out why sometimes you get a massive country, but with a border inside of it. It is because sometimes, one country merges with multiple instead of one, but those nations don't merge with each other. One example: Say Saudi Arabia merged with Yemen and Oman. They are merged with Saudi Arabia but they are not merged with each other, therefore Yemen and Oman still have their border. Other than that, thanks for the quiz!
Part of the China-Myanmar border was invisible but re appears when zoomed in (THIS HAPPENED WHEN MYANMAR WAS MERGED WITH LAOS AND CHINA WITH TAJIKISTAN)
How I got Eritrea and Ethiopia, but no Sweden and Finland?! I'm from Finland so that's kind of embarrassing. I always look too close and not the obvious ones
Am I the only one who keeps doing this quiz just to try to get the most cursed fusions? I just got China, Pakistan, Iran, Syria, Jordan, georgia, Greece, Bulgaria, serbia.
You know your having a day you're not....the sharpest tool in the shed......when you didn't notice your own country was merged with a much larger neighbour. xD (Netherlands-Germany).
Poland: *sweats profusely*
Lithuania
Nice quiz
I like this creativity
Merging :)
