Can you name all 61 London Underground Stations that are officially within Zone 1? To help you out, I made an SVG map of the tube map, which took several days to make!
Some stations are currently closed, but are included as closure is not permanent.
By popular demand, type-ins are now stricter. This means the "Street" and "Road" on the end of stations is required! Time has been extended to 10 minutes to accommodate for the extra typing involved.
This is an amazing quiz, I am embarrassed though how many times it took me to get 100%, once I knew this all like the back of my hand. I have a favour to ask, that is can you possibly add edgeware (road) as an option. I was going nuts trying to guess that. I didn't even realise that Edgware is spelled without the extra e. oops
I nominate this for Jetpunk's list of all-time best quizzes. It might be interesting to do a version where the answers are listed in station order by line (so many times an answer would pop up in 2 or 3 places). Rather than me make that, and credit you back to this one in that quiz, would you be interested to do that and post it yourself? Cheers, Jeremy
Thank you so much Jeremy! I would happily do it, though it might be a little while until I get round to it due to University exams coming up soon. Would you think having a different quiz for each line; a few lines in each quiz or having one quiz with all lines would be best?
I was thinking of one quiz, using the map from this quiz, with all of the train lines, one per column, as answers. It probably won't take too much work to copy this one, then simply adapt the answer list sequence. Good luck with your exams!
From the U.S. Never been to London...or the UK...or Europe for that matter. Somehow cobbled together 18/61 from what I've heard in movies/TV/news, Premier League clubs and a few times simply stepping in it. VERY proud of my 1 point!
Oh, and amazing quiz. WELL done. When I saw "with map" in the title, I had to give it a whirl, despite knowing ahead of time how terribly I would do on it.
Excellent quiz.well done. One minor comment. I know Monument and Bank are linked but they are two stations on different lines. Should the answer come up as Bank/Monument rather than just Bank, irrespective of which one is entered.... or even split out as two answers? Thanks.
I have considered that, however everywhere I've looked say that Bank and Monument act as a combined station. For example, on wikipedia, the usage statistics for both are identical and come with this note: "Bank and Monument operate as a combined station with shared usage statistics." For that reason I'll leave them as combined. Bank is displayed rather than both due to it being shorter and more well known. Both are accepted for that answer anyway though!
I always think it's a consolation getting the least-guessed one when you have missed really obvious ones like Marylebone and Euston Square (having typed in "Euston Road" at least four times)
Lived there for a year and commuted between Ealing and the East End daily (often taking one of three different lines) and yet I've forgotten all but a dozen of them.
we used to, but then people complained because it would always accept "__ St" before "__ Street" and there's nothing we can do about it. So after many complaints we changed to this.
As of earlier this year, and in preparation for the Northern Line Extension (whose stations will be zone 1), Kennington is in zone 1 as well as zone 2.
'Some stations are currently closed, but are included as closure is not permanent.'
This is no longer relevant. Would be best to remove.
I have never heard 'Kensington High Street' used as the name for the station before, but I have heard 'High Street Ken' many times.
2 years overdue to add the Battersea extension for the Northern line, including Kennington (Z1/2), Nine Elms (Z1) and Battersea Power Station (Z1).
If DLR is included, then Elizabeth Line and Overground should be included too. This would entail adding stations at Shoreditch High Street (Z1) and Hoxton (Z1/2), as well as extra connector blobs at Euston (LO), Liverpool Street (LO), Bond Street (EL), Paddington (EL), Tottenham Court Road (EL), Farringdon (EL), as well as one for EL that connects to both Moorgate and Liverpool Street.
Great quiz though. Some more for other cities would be awesome. I'd like to see one for Hong Kong.
