Countries that Officially Speak an Indo-European Language
Really gives you an impression of how widespread these languages are. Enter countries that de jure, officially speak an Indo-European language.
Some countries, such as the USA and the UK, do not have an official language, so do not appear here.
I will not include regional languages or minority languages; it just takes too long to do.
I had to scour the web and use many, many sources. There was a lot of conflicting information. If there is a mistake, just tell me courteously in the comments.
A very good idea, even if it mixes situations which are quite different, i.e. Congo (maybe 10% IE (French)-speakers, colonial language) and Armenia (probably 90% IE (Armenian)-speakers, national language), but I guess your idea is to show how widespread IE languages are in some way or other.
A few suggestions:
– Could you accept « Gambia » as well instead of « The Gambia », since you place it under G?
– I also think you should accept « St Lucia », « St Vincent » etc., not only « Saint Lucia »...
You can't say something in the instructions an just not follow through. Mauritius, Mexico, Ethiopia, Australia, and Eritrea have no official languages. Also I didn't think Turkmen was an Indo-European Language, but I may be wrong on that.
