Florida doesn't actually get that hot, it rarely gets over 100. But, the feel like temperatures reach 115 sometimes, the humidity keeps it cool but makes it more uncomfortable.

I'm surprised at how many states apparently have had a high temperature of over 109 degrees. That's not uncommon here in AZ during the summer, but 39 other states have reached that at some point.

I understand why, but it still seems nuts to me that Alaska isn't #1.

It's interesting because the #1 state also has the warmest record cold temperature (12).

The temperature in Hawaii and tropical regions see much less seasonal variance regarding temperature.

Hawaii makes sense when you think about oceanic climate, but what's really surprising to me that states in the Rocky Mountains exceed 42°C.

There aren't any states entirely in the Rockies. Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, etc all extend east into the plains.

It's very dry so there isn't humidity in the air to absorb some of the heat. The temeperature hits both extremes depending on the season and sometimes just on the day. I remember days when it would be in the 50's or 60's and then the next day it would get down to like 20 or 15.

Make a list of the hottest temperatures recorded in each state. Put them in order of highest to lowest. Now the last eleven are the answers to this quiz.
