"Doubly landlocked" means "all its neighbours are landlocked". Both France and Spain are not landlocked. The only doubly landlocked countries are Liechtenstein and Uzbekistan.
Bit deceptive to have the EU flag as the pic? But hey the 100m ppl clue soon makes you realise its all of Europe (and it helps to read the instructions! Doh!). Good quiz, quite tough. Viva the EU, from an embarrassed Brit!!
WHy is Cyprus not in the quiz!Cyprus might be closer geographically to Africa and Asia but is definitely European! + it's in the European Union. Also Kosovo is not recognised by all as an independent country
There are no speed limits on certain roads on the Isle of Man, UK. Not like Germany's autobahns - these are rural roads, where the law basically says don't drive like an idiot. But I think that technically, the UK has roads with no speed limit too!
Its populated by Greeks and Turks, is in the EU and while it could be considered middle eastern or Asian, I have never heard of the island referred to as African?
Well now it's just some buildings. They represent less than 1% of European land and less than 1% of Europe's population. A bit misleading - thought it was only about the country that they're in.
Not only on Jetpunk. Look at a map. Continents are defined by physical geography - continental plates, oceans, mountain ranges, etc, not what currency they use. Is every country that uses US Dollars in North America now? Cyprus is clearly in Asia, and it would be in Africa before it was in Europe!
Funnily enough, it is considered a subcontinent! The Indian subcontinent includes India and a few of its neighbours that are separated from the rest of Asia by the mountain ranges you mentioned. It just happens to be on the smaller side, so it isn't considered its own continent.
Continents are defined by convention; these conventions are inspired by physical geography, as well as human geography, politics, languages, and a bunch of other factors, like how easy it is to make lists on a trivia site.
It's also important to understand that, like most coarse taxonomies, it's just not very important, and it's especially not important when it comes to being fine-grained about their "borders". It literally doesn't matter whether Cyprus is in "Asia" or "Europe" or "Africa" or is a continent of its own for that matter; any more than it matters whether Pluto is a planet or not.
That being said, how about my meaningless coarse taxonomy?
There are five continents: Africa, Antarctica, Eurasia, North America and South America.
There is also Oceania, a continentoidal region.
Eurasia is a megacontinent, because it has two subcontinental peninsulas: Europe and South Asia.
Well, Trinidad and Tobago are located on the Carribean plate and that tectonic plate is considered to be part of the North American continent in its entirety. Continents are absolutely defined by geography for the most part. Yes, there are some inconsistencies, but your example is not one of them. Exactly because of geography, T&T does not belong to South America, as that would require the borders of the tectonic plate to be disregarded.
"Is considered" is doing some very heavy lifting, here. If continents were defined by tectonic plates, Trinidad would be in the Caribbean continent, and Cyprus would be partially in Africa.
By the way: the notion of "parts of the world" (meaning continents) dates from Antiquity. The word "continent" was formed in the 16th century and originally designated any continuous land - each island being its own continent.
We've only known about tectonic plates since the 20th century.
Wrong. Serbian government, military, police, border police, etc have no jurisdiction in Kosovo. Pretending that Kosovo is Serbian is purely nationalistic brain-washing.
Ma sta pretending bro? Learn History. Watch war documentaries and get your facts straight before commenting on here as though you're suddenly gonna fix everything.
You only see one side of the story. Do you know how many Serbs are still being attacked by those Albanians today? On the streets?
Why are we always made to look like the bad guy?
We put three fingers up, Symbol of Our Country, and half of Europe threaten to chop them off.
And also, you just saying that is supporting the ethnic cleansing done by Albanians to Serbs and is still being done today, you just are not aware because the news wants to hide it from you.
I live in Europe and it had never crossed my mind that Cyprus could be considered part of Asia. Dudes, it's in the European Union, how can it possibly be considered other than a European country?
I don't think JetPunk is ever going to convince the majority that this is true, but at least people have gotten in the habit of clarifying this belief in the quiz instructions.
Problem with Andorra, Ukraine and Norway. Tricky.
It doesn’t matter though, because it said not counting British territories.
And yeah ik I'm like four years late lol.
But I think we all understand that it shouldn't be included in this quiz anyway...
Continental boundaries are completely arbitrary.

To illustrate my point: jetpunk considers Trinidad and Tobago to be part of North America.

You need to calm down.
But probably the reason is i live in Europe
