I would vote for a little more time. If you wanted to make it a bit easier, you could add continents as clues. But that's not really necessary; and I personally like the quiz the way it is. Very creative idea :)
Thanks! I originally did have the continents as clues, but that seemed to make it too easy; at least 75% of people got each question. It's true that the time is a bit short, but I want to avoid allowing people to just guess every country they know and getting a bunch of correct answers without actually knowing them.
I think it is perfect, I got all but 3 and they were all small countries. One was a brain fart, but the continent hint would have made the other 2 gimmes!
Think the time's about right. Missed three pairs on my first go; all fairly obvious ones too so was doable. Continents I feel would make it too easy. I like the challenge, which is what is should be IMO.
Scambigol has already made this quiz: Bordering Countries with Same Initial. Featuring his instead would be the better idea, or if it's too much work, give him credit :)
Wow, then there are TWO like that (see also the one linked to in the description). However, I do think this one deserves its separateness because of giving us the letter hints (in alphabetical order).
I was sure there must be an earlier quiz, and I spent quite a bit of time looking, but I never thought to search for "initial". But now that this one is featured, we're not going to change it. Great minds think alike!
I didn't realize there was a similar quiz already out there! I also did some searching to be sure there wasn't a similar quiz before I made this one, but I made the same mistake in not searching for "initial."
Scambigol is one of the best among us, so this is not going to be harmful for him. This version with initial letters is better, and I support featuring quizzes made by less known users. This will motivate them and there will be more of us with good ideas.
I hear both of you guys (and QM further up the page as well). Maybe, since scambi's version is slightly different (and tougher too), that could still qualify to be featured at some point?
I completely agree with KoljiVriVoda. I have had a similar case with one of my quizzes but the person (Shall not be named :) was very understanding and just wanted to have some recognition that he had done a similar quiz before me :)
I'm definitely on board for more time. This is only enough time for those that really have the answers memorized, but given a few more minutes, most geography fans will be able to logic the answers out -- which is way more fun!
@sillie I'm happy to see I'm not the alone in this. And it's the only one I've missed too. I must've typed all of the other countries beginning with an I.
I assume the answers were changed in accordance with what's officially recognized on Jetpunk? I noticed Congo was removed, as were the automatically entered Morocco, Bangladesh, and Myanmar (Burma).
perfect quiz. This had the right amount of time to make it difficult. I was puzzled until I started thinking of Africa -- that continent has the bulk of these neighboring countries
Jetpunk policy is to generally accept de facto status (not in Cyprus and a few other places though). You meet Moroccan border control just before Mauritanian.
Before the quiz was featured, Mauritania-Morocco was not included. Quizmaster added it so that the quiz would match the standards used for other featured quizzes.
All of the ones I missed were in africa, which I barely thought of.. I didn't know there were so many. Then again, it is the continent with the most countries....
Quizmaster is the one who added the caveat about Myanmar, not me. Burma / Bangladesh was originally one of the pairs on the quiz before it was featured.
I followed the name change in the news but didn't even think of how it might affect the quiz -- but it looks like that pair has been removed to reflect the new official name.
Hm interesting, I have a think. Soviet union Slovakia perhaps? Persia Pakistan (I am disregarding timeperiods).
That is all I can think of. Going by names that have been around a long time, because most countries have been called dozens of things before there was settled on one
Do note that this comment was posted before another minute was added and our comments were posted after.
I could not think of iran iraq to save my life
I'm pretty sure Burma is accepted as well as Myanmar on this website. I've always used Burma.
I can get:
Burma/Bangladesh
Zaire/Zambia
Congo(R)/Congo(DR)
Congo(R)/Cameroon
Congo(R)/CAR
Congo(DR)/CAR
Swaziland/South Africa
This one is quite a stretch but Gaul/Germany
What am I missing?

In any case, good quiz!
