i've been doing the quizzes in this series (great quizzes btw) and this one feels notably harder than the rest, there are quite a few more titles in this one that have been forgotten to history imo.
i also looked up oklahoma crude, and the sources i found all say it is a 1973 film
I cannot imagine how Oklahoma Crude made it into this quiz, unless there was an error in the IMDb database at one point. In any case, I have replaced that film with another. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Not every film title is conducive to being included in these quizzes. For example:
- one-word titles can normally not be used. Cabaret, Deliverance, Frenzy and Sleuth were all released in 1972 and were among the top 25 earners.
- two-word titles with “A,” “An” or “The” as the first word (The Godfather, The Cowboys, The Candidate) are generally undesirable.
- foreign language films. I generally (although not always) shy away from these because they sometimes have multiple English language titles, and some die-hard film buffs may only know a film by its original foreign language title.
So, I don’t know that 1972 was necessarily a bad year for films … I just had to dig deeper into the top 200 to find 25 films whose titles worked for this quiz.

Sorry for this lengthy reply …
