Tibet has been an autonomous part of China for hundreds of years. "Tibetan independence" 1913 was a self proclaimed "independence" by Dalai Lama 13 and supported by Great Britain. It was Britain's attempt to destabilize China. No single country has ever recognized Tibetan sovereignty, not even Great Britain, so it cannot be called "independent country". After founding PRC 1949, Dalai Lama promised Mao ZeDong to abolish brutal serfdom in theocratic Tibet. More than 95% of Tibetans lived in slavery like conditions. Small elite, mostly religious leaders, owned everything in Tibet: land and cattle. The rest 95% of people were tied to land and had to work as serfs under heavy taxation. You should visit torture chambers in Potala palace. Emboldened by illusion of massive US support, this elite refused to abolish serfdom and PLA intervened and took control of Tibet. "Tibetan independence" is a term spread by Washington led anti-China propaganda machine.
Tiananmen massacre is an illusion invented by Western propaganda machine. There were totally 11 deaths in Tiananmen square early morning June 4th 1989. Most students left already 3th June, because they were asked to based on Martial Law broadcasted on TV. Most deaths happened west of TianAnMen, when unknown actors opened fire against soldiers, who were approaching TianAnMen the night before 4th in order to clear it from students. Most deaths were from these gun fights. There were also many unarmed soldiers killed by mobs. Some of their bodies were gutted, burnt and hanged on highway bridges. These were actions of criminals, not by peaceful student protesters. Even many western journalists, who were in Beijing then have said there was no massacre in TianAnMen, but scuffles outside of TianAnMen. West, mainly US, is trying to maintain myth about massacre - it's part of anti-China propaganda, nothing else.
