Ha! I missed my own country. And then also I figured out the -sia thing, but I couldn't come up with a country that fit. Neat quiz!

Really good quiz, greatly enjoyed however I think the ‘more than 25% Hindu one is a bit specific!

So close...I saw "Malaysia, Micronesia, Tunisia, Russia" and noticed they all ended in "ia" so I tried Albania. Then I remembered Armenia and noticed the clues all ended in "sia". I never got the right answer. :(

What about Djibouti for the capital "city" one?
+5
Level 28
Mar 2, 2019
That would mean the capital needs to be called “Djibouti city”, which is not the name of Djibouti.

Why not? A Djiboutian would call it Djibouti City

Fiji is more than 25% Hindu? Never would have known that. Still got it because I knew Bhutan, India and Mauritius were so I thought it was reasonable.

"Speaks Russian" doesn't make much sense, but I am not sure if other countries are accepted as well? For example Estonia has a higher percentage of native speakers and non-native speakers than Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan. If it's "official language" then Tajikistan should be added.

Pretty easy for the most part. Missed the ones that have a capital that starts with H... I thought of comparing capital cities for other categories but not that one.

It's Andorra la Vella, not Andorra City. Same reason Djibouti is not counted as well
+6
Level 70
May 6, 2019
"La Vella" means "city".
+5
Level 81
May 6, 2019
Good point. Djibouti should also be counted. "City" is not an official part of the names of any of these capitals, it's just a quirk of common English convention that we believe it is. Mexico, D.F. or Ciudad de Mexico is as much analogous to Mexico City as Andorra la Vella is to Andorra City.
+9
Level 66
May 6, 2019
TWM03 "La Vella" means "The Old" in catalan, the oficial language of Andorra.
+4
Level 81
May 6, 2019
Cut and paste:

Andorra la Vella means "Andorra the Town", to distinguish it from the Principality of Andorra as a whole. Although in Catalan the word vella (like French vieille) is derived from the Latin word vetula which means "old", the Vella here (like French ville and Catalan vila) is derived from the Latin word villa and means "town".

In other words, exactly the same as Guatemala City, Kuwait City, Mexico City, Panama City... these are cities/towns that have the same name as the country they are capitals of, that we attach a word to that means city merely to differentiate between the city/town and the larger country/principality. In all cases, "City," "Ciudad," "la Vella" are not originally part of the name of the place.

+1
Level 82
May 6, 2019
Pretty sure its just "Luxembourg", no city added.
+1
Level 81
May 6, 2019
Only because the country of Luxembourg is so tiny that it's barely more than a city itself. Same deal with Monaco, San Marino, Singapore, and the Vatican (City). Though Luxembourg is the largest of all of them, it's still only 998 square miles total. New York City is 8,600+ square kilometers, many times the size of this "country." Also, look at Google maps or Wikipedia (Luxembourg City), looks like they have indeed started calling it Luxembourg City. One more to add to the list along with Andorra and the others.

Quite possible one of the best quiz ideas :) I got 11, but I knew several more, just couldnt think of the fitting country. (and was distracted, being quite ill and watching tv in the mean time haha)>

I dont think I would ve gotten nr7, 11, 15, 16, (atleast not without guessing, 11 perhaps by looking at the right continent..)
