Just one comment, I don't think Ptolemy produced that map, it has the Americas beautifully mapped, but Ptolemy died in 160 AD, unless he was a time traveller.

Hence why the question is referring to the model depicted rather than the drawing itself.

Peiping should be acceptable.

And just Pekin without the G as in Peoria's little brother city.

For the antepenultimate question, could the persons name not be an acceptable answer or at least a type in?

Great quiz series. Before I started I immediately thought of Pliny the Elder, Pythagoras, Peloponnesian, Pizarro, Peary, and Pocahontas. I was surprised that none of them were on there.

If the PLO is going to be labelled a terrorist group, it's only fair to list Israel as an apartheid state.

What would you prefer them to be labelled as: "Freedom Fighters"? That's up for debate. If they've used terrorist tactics, like suicide bombings and targeting civilians, then the term "terrorists" is apt. One could argue the same point about the IRA. A person's bias regarding the labeling of such groups, no matter how "noble" their end goals, really is a question of tactics, and whether you believe such tactics are appropriate and/or justified. Do the ends justify the means? Before anyone responds with, "yes but 'legitimate' governments have committed such atrocities against civilians, too," I am well aware of that fact, but that's not the issue in question. Sadly, too often throughout human history, the terms "terrorist" and "freedom fighter" could be used interchangeably.

The problem is that "terrorist" is such loaded word that it is not apt for use in any neutral discussion. You won't find history books talking about the "US terrorist founding fathers" or the "terrorist October revolutionaries", even though they also used terrorist tactics.

What rocamorar said. Not to mention suffragettes.

Guerilla fighters, militants, or insurgents are all more neutral alternatives. At least the quizmaster has put two options in the description for now.

Like the Free French and the Yugoslav partisans, like U.S. patriots tarring and feathering their legitimate government officials from England, any civilian who's ever shot back at an invader, in the clothes he happens to be wearing instead of waiting for a uniform to be brought through enemy lines.

But Israel and Apartheid don't start with "P".

If you think that Israel is an apartheid state, than you don't have a clue what apartheid means.

Your hat looks more like a Pork Pie hat rather than a Panama. The flat top without a crease down the centre along with the narrow turned up brim define the Pork Pie over the Panama, which is usually flat brimmed and a bit taller.

I will concede that Truman wore a Panama, it just didn't look like this one.

Agreed, the photo looks like a porkpie hat. Perhaps Truman's is not ageing well. Googling panama hat shows hats that are nothing like the photo clue provided...
