He said "will now be" 3 months after your previous comment. And not "has always been acceptable"

QM is always very forgiving on spelling so I'm not complaining, but any of my crazy spellings of Tenochtitlan never work.

I learned how to spell that, but was wondering just what kind of messes could get accepted. Nezahualcóyotl, on the other hand, has always tripped me up.

"Bolshevik bigshot" could have been an incredible pun if he hadn't been killed with an ice axe.

for some reason I read that clue as "Bolshevik bigot"

If it said US President instead of World Leader I might have guessed Truman. Thought of FDR but knew that wasn't a T.

Is it possible to accept tepee for tipi? In all my history books I've only ever seen it spelled tepee.

I typed Tartar about 15 times before I finally gave up. I'm pretty sure that Tartar is an ethnic group from Central Asia.

I think (pedant alert) Trotsky was a Menshevik, not a Bolshevik, and that was partly what did for him. I admit "Menshevik Migshot" doesn't work quite as well as a clue.

He was originally a menshevik but later joined Lenin's bolsheviks and was effectively number 2 in the bolshevik (soviet) governement until being beaten by Stalin.

Definitely read it as "Bolshevik bigot" and was taken aback for a moment. As an aside, the International Spy Museum in DC claims to have the actual ice pick with which he was murdered - pretty cool, if true.
