Really cool! A few suggestions, mostly related to commonly used alternate names for the Chadic languages:
- "Mulgi" should be accepted for Mire
- "Burku" should be accepted for Mburku
- "Dirya" should be accepted for Diri
- "Zibinju" should be accepted for Zumbun (which has been misspelled as "Zunbum")
- "Vune mi" should be accepted for Miya
- "Choogen" should be accepted for Ciwogai
- "Mansi" should be accepted for Mangas
- "Zamwal" should be accepted for Zangwal
- It would also be interesting to include Afroasiatic creoles and mixed languages: Hausa-based pidgins (Barikanchi, Gibanwa), Arabic-based creoles (Juba, Nubi), Cushitic-Bantu mixed languages (Ma'a/Mbugu), and Songhay-Berber mixed languages (Korandje, Tagdal).
- Kujarge and possibly Laal should be included under "Unclassified", and Rijal Alma' in Semitic next to Faifi and Razihi.
- Why are both "Mandaic" and "Neo-Mandaic" included? Only Neo-Mandaic is a living language.
Also, I found that "Ouargli" auto-populates Tagargrent, but the most commonly used name by far is "Wargla". Similarly, "Tawellemmet" is used in the literature more often than "Tawallammat" (the latter is transcription of Arabic تَاوَلَّمَّتْ, the former of the endonym /tawəlləmmət/).
Thanks for your comments. I have been thinking about updating this using the Glottolog classification, but never got around to it because I never cared much for this quiz. They use a more robust system of classifcation than Ethnologue and are more reliable when it comes to the number of languages in a family. I will keep this in mind. I'll probably update this soon.
Sorry I keep coming back to this quiz--I'm working on Proto-Afroasiatic at the moment for my thesis and this quiz is a good way to practice so many names lol. You've misspelled Koenoem as Koeneom and Mindat should be accepted for Mundat (Glottolog calls it Mindat).
