I initially guessed "hippocampus" for the equestrian clue, oops. That's what happens when it comes directly after a bunch of mythology questions, I guess.
Hippocampus is the scientific name for the actual seahorse (and part of the brain named after it). So eventhough you had the mythological version in mind, what you typed is technically a correct answer and should have been accepted.
That's how i was getting there but i couldn't remember the lyric. And when i finally landed on Scylla, i couldn't spell it so i thought i was wrong. Dang it.
Aren't sirens the same as mermaids? I was surprised when it was not accepted. (Still got mermaid right, but my French-speaking brain went straight for the other name first.)
Sirens and mermaids are not the same. Sirens sing a song to lure sailors to their deaths and were around in ancient Greek mythology. They are sometimes depicted as mermaids, but have also been depicted as half bird people, too. As far as I know, the mermaid is from various cultures and does not necessarily sing.
I think it's OK to say that a non-living object lives in a specific place. For instance, if a guest asks me where I keep my coffee mugs, then I might respond that mugs live in the cupboard above the stove. It's a more interesting title for the quiz and gets the point across.
Can you accept Akula or Typhoon for Red October? Those are the russian or NATO names for the class of submarine.
I know Red October is theoretically a new class of it's own, it's just a suggestion because i wasted far too much time until my brain finally remembered that the submarine has a name, haha.

And then I couldn't remember the English name even though it's a direct translation from my language.
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdes,
Hypnotized by you if I should linger,
Staring at the ring around your finger.
Thanks for the point, Sting!
Could you please accept a few more spellings? :)
Percy was all I could think of when it came to sons of Poseidon, too. Well, Tyson too but that was also obviously not the answer.
For the deepest point on the seabed where the clue was ___ Deep, all my brain wanted to supply was Helm's. Doh.

Absorbent and yellow and pourous is he?
