Least known one I got was Benin (though admittedly it was a few tries in, maybe 3 or 4– seeing the leopards, the ship, and the fort I just starting trying things on the West African coast). The least known one I got immediately was Seychelles (the tortoise was a hint for me). The most known one I missed was Mozambique, but I actually knew it was Mozambique (and it says Mozambique), I guess I just spent a long time looking at it and forgot to actually respond. The most known one I missed AND didn't know was Sweden.
All those stupid helmets helmets got me. I had decided by the end that they were all Caribbean countries, and then I tried all of them for each of the helmets and occasionally one would work. Turns out it's really just on half of the form British colonies.
I agree. It definitely needs more time! After looking at each coat of arms, and finding the obvious ones (which took up almost 90% of the time for me), I would have needed to look at at least sixty more remaining, trying to guess.
Or perhaps do them in batches, either a series of separate quizzes or one that is randomized (with like 40 per quiz). Of course and ultra big quiz is justified once in a while too.
yes at one point I noticed the first few ones I got were quite "big names" so realised there most be some sort of order (size and population had crossed my mind too). This helped me actually because it made me think of the wellknown countries I had not guessed yet. Though it did not manage to get me Italy.. The cogwheel made me think of Africa (Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Rwanda. All use cogwheels) and several of the African countries have a star too
There are way too many countries that have their own name on their coat of arms. You should blur out all these countries’ names on their coat of arms because it makes the quiz unnecessarily too much easier and defeats the point of the quiz.
If you do that, it's fine of course, but then please give us more time to do the quiz. A lot more. It's no fun trying to guess sixty difficult ones in a few seconds by the end of the twenty minutes running out...
There's a mobile geography app that does this beautifully, with full coat of arms appearing after correct answer. Though it goes so far to scrub the full name (Republic etc) in all languages.
Yeah, I know, 11 countries have their names in Arabic. I tried removing it, but my knowledge of Arabic is nil, even with Google translate I couldn't do it. And removing all Arabic text is overkill.
So I guess it'll remain a bonus for knowing a second script.
If you really wanted to, you can find the official names on the wikipages, then put it into google translate to see the order of the words, then compare the words to see which is the nation. In Mauritania, it's the third arabic word (the leftmost) (الموريتانية)
I did want to, and tried it with a couple of countries, but failed miserably – somehow there were too many variations and Google translate was very unreliable...
I don't think it was reset. The average is 90 now, and the majority of the results are pre-update. I suppose it will slowly drift to the new average, but it's hard to say which direction, because the time was also increased along with deleting the names.
Made it almost five years ago – took a while for it to get featured. A lot of images here, so maybe sometimes not all of them load properly, I guess it depends on your connection.
Kazakhstan takes the price of best coat of arms! Mongolia is pretty epic too! Sudan gets a mention because it is intimidating. I've always liked the Ukrainian one and the Iran one is pretty clever. And there are honorable mentions for ones with cool animals, like kangaroo+emu and the dude with his dragon ox and eagle (Iceland). There are several more cool ones (like the originality of Bhutan), but can't name them all. (clearly I couldn't haha, scored below average, thought I did reasonably ok)
I really love the arms of Liechtenstein. There should be more historical arms like that. I think the old french arms with les fleurs-des-lys is way better than the modern one.
One of the best quizzes on Jetpunk. So much fun analyzing the coats of arms to try to make a link with the country through symbolism. Just wish there was more time so that I could take more time looking for clues
The Danish coat of arms was recently changed to better represent Greenland and the Faroes as a rebuke by the Danish king after Trump repeatedly suggested that he wanted to buy Greenland.
- up-to-date versions everywhere,
- better quality images with less size,
- obvious country names removed from images,
- time increased to 25 minutes.

FORGOT THE UK
On the ugly side, North Korea's is odd and boring, and just wtf is Oman's supposed to be?
So in a way the difficulty increases as you progress.
So I guess it'll remain a bonus for knowing a second script.
In other words, does replacing the images reset the average score? I got 3 points so not sure if I'm average or a secret ace ;)
1st and 3rd don't show, by the way (unless clicked on to ne enlarged)
Thanks!
