Iberia (Spain and Portugal), year 1037 - with map

During the XI century, the Caliphate of Cordoba split into many small "taifa" kingdoms. Meanwhile, in the north, the Kingdom of Galicia had been annexed again and the two most powerful future kingdoms were mere counties. In one of these counties the Cid would be born in the 1040s.
Portugal was also a county until 1139, and is not shown. The status of Andorra is unclear until the XIII century.
