What does the "N" stand for in "MLN"?

National. The Brewers (MIL - American League) were already in the city, so MiLwaukee-National league was chosen as the Braves' abbreviation when they moved there. They'd done the same thing when they moved to Boston--Red Sox had BOS, so they chose BSN.

FYI, Piazza was with the Dodgers in 1997. Wasn't traded to the Mets until 1998.
