Yes, it is south India. If you will zoom in, you can notice Coconut trees in back and they are wearing traditional tamil clothes, i.e. Lungi. Even in %, India is only #2 to Ukraine

Not quite. Bangladesh, Denmark, and a few other countries have higher % than both India and Ukraine, and just don't show up on this quiz cuz they are too small. Still, India would be 8th percentage-wise, which is still pretty impressive.

Surprised by France, I thought Ukraine was the only european country to gain such a size.

I've driven up the east side of France. It's just fields as far as the eye can see. Other than a few major cities, the entire country is littered with old farming towns.

To be fair, the quiz is about the greatest area of land, so large countries have an advantage over smaller ones

I actually do have a version by percent on my page. Warning, it's very difficult. Some countries you'd never expect made the cut

Cool I will take that one next. I indeed felt it was another name the big country quiz, I guess which and how many quizzes you have taken that week matter. I had a lot of those this week.

Well of to your other quiz, I like the challenge and it would be more interesting to learn, more meaningfull info imo. Even if I were to get only 1 :)

Nice idea! This quiz should be done by percentage, not by km2. JetPunk is full of quizes where you can just name all the biggest countries of the world and you get everything right without knowing anything. That was what I did with this one.

Thanks! When I first made this quiz, I actually intended to do that, but the source wouldn't organize the data like that. As this quiz has exploded recently (into my 1st featured quiz), I think the extra work would be well worth it. I'll do it as soon as I find some free time. ;-)

If India devotes 57% of its land to farming, how does Bangladesh feed itself? Maybe the answer is that it doesn't. Also surprised to see the absence of Uganda. And central America. Seems like, in the developed world, the more a country is wary of its neighbors, the more emphasis gets put on feeding itself.

Seems like global food welfare serves as a bad crutch for empty population growth. Development into/past an agrarian society is basic stuff. I can only imagine how easy it is to control another government when you control their population's food supply. Dumb treatment of the symptom.

This quiz is based on total km of land area not percentage. Bangladesh is 65% farming but only 97km. It ranks 32 based on size. Too small of a country to make this quiz. Same with Central America.
