Most of these players are in the Hall of Fame, which gives a single team for all inductees. (Note that this time is not always the team on the player's cap or the team most fans would pick. Take it up with Cooperstown.)

Of those who were not inducted, most fall into one of four categories: PED users, the occasional players who have been spurned (often because of playing long ago), current players, and players who aren't yet eligible thanks to the five-year waiting period. To decide these players' teams, I chose the team where they played a plurality of years unless another had a significantly higher WAR. The only cases that were genuine judgements calls were Bobby Grich (who could go with either the Orioles or the Angels, but had a higher WAR with the former) and Carlos Beltrán (who has said that, if he makes it to the Hall, he would like to go in with the Mets).

Most players:

Giants, 8 (highest: Barry Bonds)

Tigers, 8 (highest: Ty Cobb)

Braves, 7 (highest: Hank Aaron)

Cardinals, 7 (highest: Stan Musial)

Yankees, 6 (highest: Babe Ruth)

Three teams (the Diamondbacks, Marlins, and Rays, all formed in the 1990s) do not have any players on this list.

Four teams (the Indians, White Sox, Braves, and Cubs) claim players under former names. (Those names are: the Spiders/Blues, the White Stockings, the Beaneaters, and the Colts respectively.)

One team (the Providence Grays, with Old Hoss Radbourn in 76th) has a player and has since folded.
