Hey all, I see the many comments on the Type-in suggestions. I am constantly working on them and just patched the quiz with another batch of them. Universities have many nicknames so it is hard to keep them all pinned down, if you have any other credible suggestions please leave them as you have been doing on some of these comments. Thank you

Trying to get the university name exactly right is maddening. Berkeley is misspelled. Chicago is not "Chicago U"; it's either Chicago or "U Chicago". Ditto for Michigan. "Wisconsin" is the standard abbreviation for "Wisconsin Madison". It's John*s* Hopkins. Nobody calls USC "South California U". Washington University in St Louis is typically just called "Washington University" or abbreviated as WUStL; it's never called "St Louis Washington". Etc. Etc. Etc.

I find your post a bit strange. I understand and I am correcting these mistakes, as I am only human. But, mentioning "etc." is not a very helpful thing if you want this quiz to improve. For most Grammar mistakes I apologize, the sheer volume was hard to check. But as for the Names terminology I used both sites and common references as well as any applicable abbreviations. And getting the name exactly right isn't true. I have many type in variations. If you have any Specific Examples of additional Type in's rather than implications I will gladly check those over.

Toronto U is either U of T or University of Toronto. British Columbia U is either UBC or Univesity of British Columbia

McGill U is usually just called McGill

I understand that it's difficult, but to be blunt, don't create such a comprehensive quiz if you don't know the subject too well. U Chicago, University of Chicago, or just "Chicago" should work instead of Chicago U. Being from the area, I've never once heard it called that. Cal Berkeley should work, as well as UCB or just Berkeley. Maybe you did, but I doubt that you actually checked several references. Those were just in the first 3, and I quit after I realized I'd have to try multiple variations of each school's name

These things still aren't fixed. I stopped after several tries. Many of the write ins are too specific.

Wisconsin and Michigan are just called Wisconsin and Michigan. Happened so many times I can't count them all. It's such a fun quiz and I love the way you mix up the ranks so you can't guess in order. Please take some other best colleges and universities quizzes to get a sense of the standard names used. Thanks!

Agreed. UCSD is misspelled as well. And there were several others I could have sworn I tried that didn't work.

It would also help a lot to put these in some kind of order -- by state and country, in order of rank, or just alphabetical. Even if you know most of these, it's impossible to get very far in the time allowed when you have to run through a bunch of different possibilities for each box and/or search through the whole list to find other entries for the same state or country. Removing the specific box requirement and accept the correct answers in whatever order they're given would work as well.

Agreed with many of the above (but the rude tone of some of them only shows them up, not you)... I am afraid the quiz is asking for way to specific answers....you can see that in the very small % who are getting very obvious answers like NYU and Brown....well over half would get these if the type ins were reasonable. Well done on putting it to together but to be more in keeping with JP quizzes you would need to add in reasonable type ins. Cheers.

Nice job! But many of the answers need to be cleaned up. For example "Michigan" "Wisconsin" "Berkeley" should each be accepted on their own. Same with "Penn" and "UPenn," "Toronto" or "UT" or "UToronto," "JHU" for Johns Hopkins (no apostrophe), "UNC" for Chapel Hill, "Penn State" and so on.

Looks wrong. Where is Carnegie Mellon? By which rankings are you going? it's a combo of both rankings? There is no "Austin", there is "University of Texas at Austin". Pittsburgh in the list but Carnegie Mellon not? Check it out.

According to "Best Schools: is the primary source. And I include a lot of shorthand as you can see. And Carnegie Mellon was not on the list last I checked
