I got him, but the picture played no part in that. I remembered about 4 more footballers. 2 were a hit, Messi wasn't on the list and Marco van Basten was more of the 80s or 90s when these sums weren't as astronomical. Oh, Beckham wasn't there either.

Not necessarily true. He had a moment of madness in the WC final with the head butt, but he was not known as an aggressive guy. He is probably one of the best and skillfull midfield players that ever played professionally.

Hopefully you're going to update this list once the summer window is finished. I mean, Real Madrid adding more and more and more names to the list, PSG and ManU buying defenders at very high prices (and probably regretting about it) and so more things like those.

Funny thing is I counted maybe 5 players that are real legends and maybe 3 that were worth the money. Back in the days when you payed 40-50 million for a player that was a superstar on level of Messi and Ronaldo, like Brazilian Ronaldo, Figo or Zidane. Today they pay this kind of money for some average players. Football has changed, cant see as many stars like even 10-15 years ago. There are 10 superstars and rest are bunch of "no-names"

Was very confused not to see Kaka on this list. As I remember he was the most expensive ever signing, for a week before Ronaldo signed for £80m back in 2009 - But had to research it and he was the most expensive player in pounds, but still wasn't more expensive than Zizu in Euros - Head, baffled...

None of the numbers are adjusted for inflation. Perhaps you are getting your info from an inaccurate source. The fee was originally 150 billion lire, converted to Euros at a fixed exchange rate of 1:1936.27. Hope this helps!
