Arnold was the head of the theory and composition department at Hartt College of Music when I was there, so Arnold definitely deserves the mention too.
Wow, those are some obscure composers. Lalo is the only one I am familiar with (his cello concerto is a lot of fun to play). I'm guessing a lot of them are opera composers, which I don't know as much about.
Just a heads up: the caveat of this quiz says that "Most of these will be Italian composers", but 7/15 of the answers are Italian composers, while 8/15 are pasta.
Great idea. I thought I was going to breeze through this one. Found myself pausing for long stretches over a few of these. Strozzi, in particular, had me going back and forth almost until time ran out.
I'm happy to say that I would've only attempted to cook & serve 1 composer for dinner. However the meal would've been served while listening to 3 different pastas on my record player.
Even with a handful of guesses, I managed to get 14/15 !
Also, learned about Barbara Strozzi. I was surprised to see a woman from the early/mid 17th century, who had great success, despite receiving no support from the church, and minimal patronage from the nobility! Impressive woman!
As a native Italian I have never heard of "risi", "fiori", or "sacchettoni" pasta... I am satisfied with the fact that they exist, as there are hundreds of varieties of pasta, but I wonder if they are somewhat regional. It is also confusing sometimes as often names are changed for the export market, for example with "orzo" which in Italian simply means "barley" and indicates a grain rather than a pasta. Fun quiz!
love this one
Cool quiz!

By the way, I loved this quiz.
And indeed, amazing quiz!
