Biggest Countries by Population, but... #6

We got rid of all land on Earth, except for land that belongs to first-level subdivisions with country capitals, and also the ones that border them. Not only that, each country claims the neighboring subdivisions of their capital subdivision, even if it's outside the country border. This lead to some countries uniting due to claiming the same land. Can you name the most populated countries after these big modifications?
