The island is named after Christmas. The letters TI make the S sound in Gilbertese, so "Kiritimati" is pronounced similar to "Christmas".
In order of population, its villages are Tabwakea (3,001), London (1,895), Banana (1,209), Poland (351), and Paris, which is in ruins and has a population of zero.

And it took me till reading through half the comments for it to finally dawn on me why Salt Lade City wasn't working. I stubbornly tried it at least 4 times, double checking for spelling.
You'd think it would get old "correcting" people without spending the most minimal possible effort making sure you were the one who was correct.
