The CD-i games are not exactly "in canon" with the rest of the games. The Publisher bought the license and did some crappy games that had nothing to do with the common Zelda gameplay. I think Nintendo regrets this until today for the games still reach very high Prices on ebay. :-P
I’m pretty sure that Nintendo was considering a partnership with Philips on a CD system and gave them the license as a trial sort of deal. That obviously failed. Three Zelda games and Hotel Mario to show for it… yikes.
Depends on taste, I guess. I didn't enjoy it that much, it doesn't feel or play like any other Zelda game I've ever played (I played them all except for Minish Cap if I remember correctly).
It's easily the most out-of-place LoZ game. The usual method of exploration and puzzle solving is conserved in all the other games so far, and, to be completely honest, Adventures of Link is easily my least favorite in the series... except for the CDI games, but... we don't talk about those.
They are superb. And remarkable considering the hardware. I must say I still haven't finished either of them though... perhaps I'd better get them out again.
Link to the Past was by far the best Zelda game I ever played, but I only ever played the first six. Never even heard of some of these. The first one was the main reason I decided to keep the NES. Christmas '86 my parents bought me the Nintendo Entertainment System and Atari 7800 and told me I had to pick one and return the other. Before opening them we went up to Ohio to visit family. My cousins had the NES and I got to play Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda, which so completely blew away anything on the Atari it made the decision easy.
The NES was the only gaming machine we ever bought for our kids, (unless you count our old TI994A ) but we loved playing Zelda and Mario, too. We bought the original Zelda last year on our Wii for the grandkids to play. I had no idea there were so many newer versions of the game.
i have the japan version of the link to the past and all i could think of was that name which translates as Triforce of the Gods (Kamigami no toraifo-su). Can that be a type in please?
I am just now realizing that four sword adventures is a separate game from four swords. Now I need to play it... dangit. (i got four swords for the dsiware so i thought it was the same game)
You'll have fun.
Jk good quiz btw (:
