this has to be the oddest titled quiz. there is not a geography book, website or any other resource that would include south and north dakota as part of the Rockies, there are both part of the Great Plains region. Also Alaska is not located in the Rockies mountain range.
Alright, major revamping: now with a new name, two more states, and 2013 population estimates. Unfortunately, a town with a very interesting name (Federal Way, Washington) fell just about 500 people short of making it onto the list.
My regions were pretty consistent (Northeast, Southeast, Upper/Lower Midwest, Southwest, West Coast)... and then I got to the remaining states. I considered them all to be kind of a region with few people and a bunch of national parks, so I just stuck them into a region together and called it the Upper Rockies. This didn't sit well with a lot of people, so I renamed it the Northwest and added Oregon and Washington. The Dakotas, as far as I can tell, have no better place to stay.
