Can you guess these 20 countries, highlighted in blue, on a topological map of the world?
A topological map is a type of diagram that has been simplified so that only vital information, such as borders, remains. Other details, such as size and shape, have been removed.
Wow, 1 minute in and I'm thinking "what the h*ll is this all about? It makes no sense." Having gotten a couple through guessing and then examining those for clues, the light bulb slowly went on. Finished with ~20 seconds left. Very clever!!
I realised that after taking this quiz twice and the map quiz of it once, at first i thought it was ridiculous that this quiz was featured, but after taking the map quiz, i began to love it, and now i see it as a masterpiece.
I think everyone did what I did and that is typed in every country I could think of and hope something happened. I'm still not sure what happened and why?
Every white or blue shape is a country. The blue ones are the ones you have to guess. The black lines are oceans or bodies of water like the Black Sea or Caspian Sea. Size and shape are 100% not to scale, just borders. For example, the very top left shape is Canada, below that is the US, and then Mexico, Guatemala, and little triangles of Belize and El Salvador.
This was great. Once you get one, you start to see the pattern. Like South Africa with it's two little boxes representing Lesotho and ESwatini. Nice job!
Awesome quiz! I loved the challenge of figuring out the map. My only complaint is that it says that countries with no borders are omitted (which makes sense), but so are the Dominican Republic/Haiti and UK/Ireland, which do have a border. It would be possible to have them represented too (as two countries that only border each other and are surrounded by ocean).
I guess I just don't get it. I typed in "Brazil", and a box lit up. I then typed in EVERY country that borders Brazil, and not one of the adjacent boxes lit up. I could get the occasional other country to show up randomly, but it would similarly lead to nothing else. Huh.
Well, the idea of the quiz is to only type in the countries that are highlighted in blue. So, you have to determine which country is which by their borders and general geography. Hope this helped!
I'm pretty dense at this kind of quiz, but I think if you had said the answers were the countries in the blue boxes I could have understood it much better. I thought the blue boxes must be some sort of water feature. Now that I know those are the countries to get, it makes more sense.
I didn't really know what I was doing, but I must have because I kept guessing countries and getting them right all in a row! (they were educated guesses). Still don't get it though, despite the high scores!!
This was a crazy challenge but I loved it! Got everything except one on the first go. The right-hand portion of the 'map' was the most challenging by far.

I actually made this map myself, along with all the other topological maps in my other quizzes! I got the concept from here, but the actual design is all mine :)
Suggestion: Include in the description that the shapes for the answers are highlighted blue. This should remove the confusion a lot of people are experiencing, while not taking away from the challenge of the quiz. :)
I recall taking this quiz not too long ago and being totally confused. Started to figure it out but time ran out. Just took it again and finally found the groove. Great quiz!
I think you should specific that you're trying to fill in the BLUE areas, not every white box. I was beyond confused when apparently the USA was not below Canada.
Thanks
pls make a second part

(No it actually IS really fun. Love it)
