There was a short-lived colonial settlement established there by the Austrian East India Company of Willem Bolts in 1779 which lasted until 1781.

Didn't the Habsburgs own mainland Spain?

The caveat explains that no territories of the Spanish Empire are included. The reason why Mallorca is here is due to its occupation by Austrian forces during the Spanish War of Succession.

I love it in these quizzes when people don't get the empire itself. In the Spanish one, 100% got Mexico but the result was not as well for Spain itself...

And I thought they were the only European empire to not have expanded beyond mainland Europe.

By the way, Dekkie, which Indian settlements are those exactly and when were they colonised?

Tianjin was a concession under direct control that Austria-Hungary received after its participation in the Eight-Nation Alliance during the Boxer Rebellion, but the Indian (and Mozambican) territories however were held through trading companies in the 18th century.

Through the Imperial Company, they had trading posts at Mangalore, Karwar and Valapattanam and through the Ostend Company, they had trading posts at Covelong and Ichapore.

The first company I mentioned also attempted to consolidate a colony on the Nicobar Islands in 1778, which were abandoned by the Danish about twenty years beforehand due to a malaria outbreak. The colonists left the islands in 1785. There were two other (failed) attempts.

I knew about their attempts to colonise the Nicobar Islands but not the others. Thanks for sharing!

I would make the China and Mozambique maps a little more zoomed out, it's very hard to make out where they are, especially the latter.

The China and Mozambique maps need to be zoomed out for context. India is easy because you can make out the shape of the country. But with the other two, you can't

It's not meant to be easy, though... Either way, there's the coastlines from which you can definitely take a hint. At least 70% of the people who took this quiz still got both so I don't see the issue.
