Modern-Day Central Powers-Occupied Countries of WWI on a Map
With the help of a map, can you guess all modern day countries that were at one point controlled by the Central Powers, their co-belligerents, client states and other non-state combatants during World War I?
Click on the map to zoom in.
Central Powers labeled as CL (with those labelled with a "*" being handled with separate post-war treaties despite being unified). Client states labeled as CT.
Includes territories controlled by non-states combatants (in orange). Note that some of these controlled territories might be based off approximates.
I knew about the german colonies and the area Lettow-Vorbeck moved through in Mozambique and Zambia. But what are the areas within South Africa and the red colored areas in northern/ saharan Africa?
Thanks! The territories in South Africa are from the Maritz Rebellion and the orange territories up north are non-state combatants that aligned themselves with the Central Powers (e.g. the Kaocen Revolt, Volta-Bani War and the Zaian War).
