The quiz was originally calibrated for just a ten second 100-m dash. I mean, there are probably a few above average elephant sprinters who can beat Bolt, but I think we might need to change that one out.
So when humans go to Mars they will be labeled as aliens? I don't know if this makes sense. Sonic can be an alien but still a Hedgehog, also there are games where Sonic lives on Earth...
Okay, here we go. Focus. Speed. I am speed. One winner, forty-two losers. I eat losers for breakfast. Breakfast? Maybe I should have had breakfast? Brekkie could be good for me. No, no, no, focus. Speed. Faster than fast, quicker than quick. I am Lightning.
fun quiz but needs reworking. when i visited komodo i was told the dragons can move very fast in bursts. also i don't know if you have chased squirrels but the ones in the uk are impossible to catch
1. It's probably not Usain Bolt at his top 100m speed that's chasing them
2. It's not a race when you're trying to catch them as they can make sharp turns and juke you out, which wouldn't come into play in a race of all out speed.
I was a little confused at first based on the test description whether we were meant to just be comparing max human acceleration rate vs max animal acceleration rate (like, I’m sure some of those lizards and spiders can REALLY hustle relative to their size vs distance covered), or more broadly looking at which ones a human can outrun with size differences as a factor (because no matter how much a tarantula can accelerate it doesn’t matter when the steps it’s taking are so much shorter than a human stride)
… humans cannot outrun horses at any distance. The human versus horse marathon is a horse with a rider, so it’s not exactly a fair measure of a horse’s ability to run long distances, and the horse still usually wins.
I love love this. I was outsmarted by kangaroo because I considered it bouncing, not running. Of course, you put me in this race and you'll see that everything on this list can go faster. Love it!!
Totally thought the Basilisk Lizard (known in it's field as being fast) was faster than a man, and right as I clicked on a different option it clicked to me that most reptiles are not built to run nearly as fast as any human, besides maybe some crocodiles, should've absolutely aced it but goes to show how the reputation of something in it's own field completely inflates our perception of it.
I'm normally loudly against any limits of the adult democratic franchise, but I'm seriously reconsidering the right to vote of the 30% of quiztakers who think that a land-based snail can outrun peak Usain Bolt at top speed.
2. It's not a race when you're trying to catch them as they can make sharp turns and juke you out, which wouldn't come into play in a race of all out speed.
Many of those animals are much faster than any human over short distances.
And humans can outrun horses over some distances. Although I don’t know what Bolt’s distance times are like.
Disclaimer: I know snails are slow, but they are still faster than my reaction time!
But yea, just because we would sink when we tried that, doesn't necessarily mean they are faster..
