Far from the Madding Crowd is listed incorrectly as Far from the Madding Crown

There's a far greater mistake with the inclusion of a Dan Brown 'novel'.

There's a couple of the French ones that have alternative English titles, like Camus's L'Etranger was translated into EN as both The Stranger and The Outsider, and Proust's A la recherche du temps perdu as both In Search of Lost Time and Remembrance of Things Past.

I tried a bunch of different versions of the Proust title, including the French, and never got it. I think I misspelled "Remembrance"... But definitely agree that the original titles should be accepted for any non-English books.

I gave up after 150...pretty sad for someone who minored in American Literature. I can never remember the names of the Narnia books, etc. Still, it was a lot of fun!

Didn't get several because only US spellings are accepted. Time Traveller's Wife, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, some others.

I got 166 and forgot so many obvious ones. But at least I got one that only 1% of the people got. I could only remember two Fitzgerald novels ;(

367 is "Ramona Quimby, Age 8" there is a misspelling in the answer. Great quiz, though!

Misty of Chincoteague is misspelled as well. And needing to include the dash in "Part-Time Indian" seems unnecessarily nit-picky.

What a strange list! While I agree with many of these, it seems odd to include a bunch of relatively obscure books by a few authors, while not including a single great book from many others.

Great quiz. I agree with previous comments that you need to accept more alternatives. Particularly accept the original titles for non-English works and English as well as US spellings.

It won't accept "The Sorrows of Young Werther" because it is incorrectly listed as "The Sorrows of the Young Werther"

Fun quiz but had to stop when I saw James Patterson ranked ahead of Graham Greene. That ain't right. And I had enough of what ain't right. Couple of items I noted to that point: "Tom Jones" and "Sherlock Holmes" should be acceptable answers. And having "Swann's Way" and "Remembrance of Things Past" as separate answers is like having "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Lord of the Rings" as separate answers. I realize that's an issue with the source rather than the quiz. Just saying. OCLC needs to get it together.

Excellent quiz, so I nominated it! There are remarkable numbers of kids' books in the list; that makes it a bit tougher for most people, I'd say.

Below are a few comments or suggestions.

1. William Dean Howell's middle name is misspelled. I read his book in high school, and all I can remember is that it starts out with the main character riding in a conveyance; I think there's something about his gloves in the first chapter, too!

2. The Harry Potter book has "Philosopher's Stone" in the title sometimes, rather than "Sorcerer's Stone." I think the title varies between British and US editions.

3. The title of Goethe's famous epistolary novel has sometimes been translated as "The Suffering's of Young Werther." I had not seen the translation "Sorrows" before; then again, I read it a long, long time ago!

Thanks again for a fun quiz. Now I guess I'll go through and count how many of these books I've read...

Sorry about the inadvertent apostrophe in "Sufferings"! Sheesh.
