San Francisco is in the Sunbelt? Clearly, you have never been there, at least not much. With the fog (i.e., no sun), the climate is quite different (50s in July for example). Culturally its hard to be more different. I'm not sure that Sacramento or San Jose would be considered Sunbelt cities either.

The concept isn't an invention of the quiz maker, nor is it exclusively or perhaps even primarily to do with climate. The linked article provides an explanation.

I lived in San Francisco for twelve years, and I would never have considered it the sunbelt. It looks as though it is mainly considered sunbelt by some expanded definitions that also include places as unlikely as Denver and Salt Lake City.

Sacramento has that 98% sun chance in July though. Sunniest city on Earth during one month. Pretty cool. But I agree, I've never ever considered SF part of the sunbelt.

Great quiz! 20/20 in 49 seconds on the first try. Maybe another version without a map or even description of what the Sun Belt is?

Nice, maybe this will lower housing prices in northern states for people like me who can't stand the heat (and humidity in a lot of these places).
