How about Rochester NY? You include other cities (Schenectady, Syracuse, Worcester) that I-90 does not pass directly through.

Rochester barely did not make the cut, it was a little too far away to qualify. I made it so if the city borders on google maps had the highway in it, I counted it. Or if the city has less than 0.5 miles away from the highway, I counted it as well.

When I guessed Rochester - and it didn't turn up - I didn't even bother with Syracuse. I had thought that both of them lay to the north of the road. I was wrong. I even tried Utica - and then just gave up. There's a lesson in here somewhere about just trying stuff that occurs to you.

How about Rochester MN? When I use Google Maps' distance measuring device, I get a distance of just under 0.5 miles from the city limits to I-90.

Yeah looking at Rochester, MN it definitely makes the cut. However, I'm not happy with its inclusion because Rochester Airport is the only thing keeping it close to the highway.

To be fair, I was coming here to debate Rochester, MN (as I was just there). Yes the airport is pretty close to 90 (not sure within .5) but it's well outside the city limits. It's almost 8 miles from 90. Just because it's called Rochester Airport doesn't necessarily mean it ought to count. I think you could make a better argument for LaCrosse, WI.

Idk where those population totals are from, but Schaumberg on citypopulation only shows to have 72k, and Cheektowaga to only have 74k.

Great quiz. Some additional cities that seem to meet the criteria and clear the population threshold for inclusion: Cambridge, MA; Newton, MA; Rochester, MN.

Cambridge and Newton were complete oversights, I apologize

As a Bostonian, Cambridge was a tricky one because I knew the Mass Pike did not run through it so I was guessing Waltham and Watertown, even East Boston, which gets the terminal end of the Pike. If only the zoom got closer... That half mile clause got me! Fun quiz though.

Same, I didn't see the half mile clause. I kept trying Waltham and Watertown, but then I did try Cambridge. I know there is an exit to Cambridge, but it technically dumps you out in Boston and then you have to take the bridge into Cambridge. East Boston is part of Boston. Great Quiz!

5 years later and I still don't see the half mile caveat. No part of Route 90 runs through Cambridge.

You should use .zoomable-circle so that the circles don't grow when you zoom.

@sumguy The circles would look a bit too small if the zoomable-circle class was added. It looks slightly better this way, too.

Not trying to be picky but I’m just wondering why South Bend Indiana appears to be in Michigan on the map

Great quiz, but I was a little confused because some of the dots don't seem to be in the exact right places, like South Bend. It looks more like it's in Michigan on the map despite it being in Indiana.

It's pretty much on the state border- I mean, all of I-90 in Indiana is on the state border. I'd say the picky one is Toledo- you have to go a few miles north on 280 or 75 to get there. I'm willing to allow it if only because that stretch of highway is...er...less than exciting.

I-80/90 forms the southern border of Toledo with the westbound traffic on the Ohio Turnpike in Toledo and eastbound traffic in Maumee.

It's frustrating for me when suburbs are included. I've driven through Spokane but have no memory of Spokane Valley. I understand why they are included, I just personally prefer quizzes of this type to be about metro areas. At least I learned something new and I still enjoyed the quiz.

Yeah, as a native of Spokane, I can confirm that the Valley is just the suburban extension of Spokane. It's really nothing special.

It's a cool idea but way too many dinky towns that should probably be umbrella'ed into metro areas. Maybe folks like the struggle of remembering all the small cities and suburbs, but I'm not one of them.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but it just seems like the cities in the answer box should be ordered by west to east or east to west, rather than by population.

Great quiz thanks but it would be better to list the cities west to east then they would be listed under the corresponding dots on the map (on a mobile at least). As it is, you have to scroll left and right to match each dot with its name.
