Lyrics
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows...
Doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, oooooooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, oooooooh (Anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
Lyrics
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
(Galileo) Galileo (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro
Magnifico-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go! Let him go!
Bismillah! We will not let you go! Let him go!
Bismillah! We will not let you go! Let me go!
Will not let you go! Let me go! Never!
Never let you go! Let me go!
Never let me go! No, no, no, no, no, no, no!
(Oh Mama mia, Mama mia) Mama mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me! For me! For me!!
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters
To me
Any way the wind blows...

Come off it! This is easily one of the best rock songs ever!! Sure, Stairway and all those other songs certainly are best hits as well, but you can't exclude Bohemian Rhapsody. Rock wouldn't be the same without it.

Excuse me, sure, those are great songs, but number one is easily Bohemian Rhapsody by like... a million to one! I don't know who you think that you are, but if those amazing songs are in front of Bohemian Rhapsody on the ratings of how good they are, I'd be surprised, and quite frankly, Bohemian Rhapsody is the best song ever written; thank you, Freddie. Freddie, rest in peace, I hope that these people come off it. Anyway, listen to all of the songs listed above, including Bohemian Rhapsody, and choose favorites. Then, even if you were still wrong, I might be able to overlook it out of the goodness of my heart. But now you're in for it, and need to prove that one of us is wrong, and it surely isn't me who is wrong about the best song, so, until then, you are wrong. In fact, you know you are wrong, just suck it up and go listen to some Classic Rock. Until you listen to Classic Rock for a long enough time, you cannot know what it's truly like and notice how truly wonderful that it can be

I'd have to agree. It's a very good song for sure, but to be called the best ever? That's a bit of a stretch. Though of course it all comes down to personal taste, I personally wouldn't even put it in my top 50. Hell, I'd go so far as to say it's not even the best Queen song - I'd listen to Don't Stop Me Now over Bohemian Rhapsody any day.

Yeah, it's obviously not the best, but it's not that big a stretch - Bohemian Rhapsody is definitely better than Don't Stop Me Now

My favorite Queen song tends to vary week by week, but Radio Ga Ga, '39, I Want It All, These Are The Days of Our Lives, and Fat Bottomed Girls are all up there. That being said, Bohemian Rhapsody is still pretty great and is definitely a work of art that completely redefined music. It may not be my favorite Queen song, but it is definitely the greatest Queen song and easily one of the greatest songs of all time. And definitely better than Stairway and Hotel California. All my opinion of course, and I may be biased since Queen is my favorite band :)

Not too difficult to remember "Figaro" if it's already a word you are familiar with, and hence, can easily identify when you hear it. Anyone who is familiar with Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro" or with the cat in Disney's "Pinocchio" would have no problem with it.

i am pretty sure i only know it from the song, same with fandango, and bismillah. But allready knew galileo and beelzebub ;) but not easier or harder than the other lyrics to remember. Maybe even easier, cause some times when not at the end of a sentence several words could fit. (likes instead of love for instance)

Hmm you said 70s music, just because Wayne's World revised this songs popularity doesn't mean it wasn't written in the 70s, actually first put on an album in 1975. Queen's rise to fame came in the 70s. Sure their performance at Live Aid brought a whole new generation to their music but they were a 70s band.

Among lead singers in the general "rock" category, I'd agree. I think among the broader category of popular singers, Sam Cooke is the best there has been. There are probably about a million better opera singers, but we don't know their names because rock and pop dwarf opera in terms of popularity.

If it wasn't for Wayne's World I probably wouldn't know half of these lyrics. I was in high school when that movie came out, and the movie popularized that song causing it to be over-played on the radio.

Feb 18, 2021
It's overplayed generally. A shame too, because I hear it so much that it's become hard to appreciate it how great it is upon hearing it. It feels a little tired after showing up in so many movies, parodies, etc. Plus there are the karaoke performances...
+1
Level 61
Aug 22, 2021
Wayne's World was not the first time it was popularized and over played. When it came out it was a big hit in 1975, then when they performed at Live Aid and stole the show it became popular again in 1984. Wayne's World was the third time for the song to become a chart topper.

This was my favorite song for like 4 or 5 years in high school and college (you can look at my comment above from just 2 years ago) and i listened it to the point that I got truly sick of it. Now I usually skip it when it comes up on my Spotify. It's a bit of a shame that only the top 10 or 15 Queen songs get played everywhere, because they have plenty of deep cuts that are very underrated.

Freddie was of Iranian decent and their family was Muslim in belief, the song says he killed a man, even by accident and bismillah is a word of prayer in the Muslim faith, he was asking for forgiveness from God and Allah so the devil does not take his soul. Many people forget or never knew his family were Muslims and he was of Iranian decent.

QUEEN is, imo, the best group ever. They touched many genres and I haven't ever found a bad song of them.

They had an awesome guitarist, drummer and, of course, one of the best vocalists of all time.
