I got it right even w/o being familiar with it. My strategy was simply to start name dropping countries large enough to have a sea that I have not heard of. India was a natural shot in the dark.
Wikipedia lists a dozen of seas called "East Sea" by someone. It's a confusing question. I'd suggest changing it to something else, such as the Celebes Sea or the Cantabrian Sea.
China was my first guess, thinking of the East China Sea (Donghai, the local name for the sea, in Chinese literally translates to "east sea"). When it was wrong, I guessed Japan, and it accepted it. I guess the quiz refers to a different East Sea than I know. But, perhaps this should be changed as there are evidently various "East Sea"s.
I got the data from google maps, Israel and Jordan are on the gulf of Aqaba, and Djibouti is on the Bab al-Mandab strait. However I will tell the Quizmaster to see who he agrees with. Thanks!
East sea is the name for the baltic sea in a big part of europe. (Used to be in english aswell, but it is the only germanic language that changed to baltic)
Just for your information, not saying it is wrong, but if you want to avoid confusion..
Can you add write multiple names for some seas with multiple names? Arabian sea is also called "Persian Sea" (and there is a name dispute about it) and Laccadive sea is also called "Lakshamandeep sea"
What we call the South China Sea is called the East Sea by Vietnam. Calling it the South China Sea when it is the sea directly off the east coast of Vietnam has political connotations which the Vietnamese find pretty offensive.
Had to smile when entering Adriatic answer and thinking of Cheers. "Albania, Albania, you border on the Ad ri atic. Your land is mostly mountainious and chief export is chrome".
There is some history behind that. I think the sea might be older than the countries, because only recently some guy named Saudi came and conquered all these little Arabian countries.
I found that another quizmaker had made a similar French version of your quiz (but with many different seas), so in the end I won't create my own (too many duplicates). Thanks for the approval though :D
Most people consider it a part of the Caribbean region, but, strictly speaking, it does not border the official Caribbean Sea, which is between Cuba, Hispaniola, and the Lesser Antilles, and South and Central America. The Bahamas are on the other side of Cuba, so they don't have a shoreline on the official sea, thanks though!
If it's necessary to change the name, then the clue should be reworked or tossed out altogether. There are a lot of "seas". No need to force the issue.
This quiz includes the Aegean and Adriatic Seas. There are way too many countries for Mediterranean, and in addition to being a lot of answers, it would be too easy.
"I called it the East Sea so it wouldn't be too obvious" - you could use a different sea entirely that has a unique name. Spoils an otherwise good quiz
Got it like most through elimination
"The Arabian Sea is a region of the northern Indian Ocean bounded on the north by Pakistan and Iran"

I guessed it, but I think the quiz should be without this question.
Here is the link to their quiz.
By the way, I am carrying out a census of the Places of Residence of the top 100 users -for this quiz.
