Agreed. I couldn't even use the pokemon hints (except of Pikachu, Geodude, Machop and Muk). Though, I just went through each pokemon i knew to get these types.
i agree with chris (sorta). The original 150 were the best but i liked some of the second gen too. I think they made too many though and should have just eliminated or changed some if they wanted to add different ones. Like Chansey is dumb and could have gone 'extinct' to make room for something better. Magneton and Dugtrio are also dumb since they are basically just three Magnemites or Digletts combined, so I don't get where the 'evolution' happens.
I think the first 386 (the first three generations) were all great. 4th generation pushed the envelope quite a bit, and 5th generation was just a bad idea. The games still rock, though.
I don't understand why people hate on 4th and 5th gen so much, some without even playing the games. The Pokemon have become FAR more imaginative since some of Gen 1's *cough* Voltorb *cough*
@Geoboy Lawl, except AFTER Gen4 we got a dark cat line (Gen5's Purrloin/Liepard) and a psychic cat line (Gen6's Espurr/Meowstic). Gens 5 and 6 introduced some of the best of the entire series. People get so hung up on the vanillite line, but don't take into account that the creators also must appeal to all kids and all genders, not just the veteran players. And let's talk about the atrocities of gen 1: voltorb/electrode, muke/grimer, lickitung, cloyster... all Generations have their ups and downs.
@NamedMan 5th gen was just straight up terrible, knowing you, that is probably the very first one you played. You see, the rest of us grew up on it. It was our childhood. Originals are always better than sequels, especially if there's like 5 or 6 more.
@Jakobbbbb Also, you just said that the only reason people would like Gen 5 is if it was their first game (implying it was part of their childhood), and then proceed to talk about how the other game were apart of YOUR childhood and that somehow makes them better.
Nah. The original were cool, bur there are WAY better ones in Sinnoh, Hoenn, and Kalos. Even Johto has a couple. Kanto offered a starter's pack. That's it
Agree with Insaniot. I think Gens 3 and 4 were peak Pokemon design, but Gen 5 was good too. Cool starters, awesome legendaries (including the Fighting Quartet, which is even better than Zekrom/Reshiram), some pretty innovative designs like Sigilyph and Zoroark. Even into Gen 6 there were some cool ones, like Inkay/Malamar and Pangoro.
I will say I'm less impressed with the past 2 generations. Still, that hasn't ruined my enjoyment of the franchise, especially since all of the games include previous Pokemon. I think Gen Wunners are just pretentious and make up excuses to act like they're too good for Pokemon.
The creators put so much thought and time and effort into a Pokémon's designs, not to mention the lore, story, origins, and abilities of that Pokémon. It's no wonder that there are so many filler Pokémon so that they can actually make the generation!
Except for Magnemite and Magneton for steel (although in versions Green, Red, Blue, and Yellow, they were only electric, so you're not entirely wrong).
Steel types did, it was only dark types that didn't exist until 2nd gen. And fairy debuted in X and Y, and I refuse to recognize fairy as a true pokemon type.
No, lolrobbielol is right. There were Pokemon in generation 1 that were later given the steel type, but the steel type itself did not exist until generation 2.
Not true. Dual types always existed, they just retconned a few new ones as time went on, usually when they introduced new types. That was the problem with Ghost types in Generation 1: they were supposed to be the counter to Psychic types, but the only Ghost-type Pokemon were Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar, all of whom were Ghost/Poison dual types (and since Poison is weak to Psychic for... some reason, that meant they were ineffective counters for Psychic Pokemon).
People only like all the originals better because of nostalgia, there are plenty of bad ideas in there like every other gen. There's literally a standard looking snake whose name is ekans, which is just 'snake' spelt backwards. There's a pile of purple goo with eyes called Muk. There's a seal called Seel etc.
Why? Gen 2-6 were all just as good. Is it because of nostalgia that you have this paradigm? If so, you must stop this kind of "old times, best times" mentality because it can ultimately lead to catastrophe for you and everyone around you.
Original 151*. Also the original aren't even the best, the starters aren't as amazing as people put them out to be. Also the newer games are much better and fun to play rather than the first few games' pixelated style. I get it that it didn't have much to work with but it's still not as good as games like Black, White, Platinum, etc.
When they made ball and upside-down ball and pile of goop and tripling for evolution, I knew that there's also cool dragons and powerful psychics and mega bioengineered super-Pokémon and that you should stop being sore about a few boring Pokémon designs.
I see, so your trying to be a genwunner, but your no good at it because your obviously seemed to forget that there are 151 Kanto Pokemon. Nice try, though
You should make the answers "Pure" types. Skarmory is a Flying/Steel type. It would have made more sense to put Mawile or Klink since they are both pure steel types. Just a thought. :-)
@Insaniot Yes, but the point made was that the QM was trying to choose more recognisable pokemon, so why would he choose the relatively unknown Duosion, when Mew is much ore recognisable
I never touched a Pokémon or watched anything to do with them. I do know they battle each other, so I just threw a bunch of elements I thought might come into play. Surprisingly, I was only able to get 6 in this fashion. Bug, Grass, and Normal, for instance, do not immediately spring to mind when you ask the question "what would be useful in a fight".
You mean a Pokémon game? 'Cuz I don't think anyone's touched a Pokémon before. Also, the plant/earth/nature/wood element is a pretty popular element in media.
Some people who complain about Fairy not being a real type need to get over themselves and remember that dark types didn't exist until the 2nd Generation
Its a good quiz, but there are dual types that can make it confusing. For example; Skamory is a dual flying and steel type so it is quite confusing. Geodude is a ground-rock type
Good quiz though,

I finished with 3:30 I grew up with Pokemon not only that but my friends bet me $5 that i wouldn't get all of it right before 3 minutes XD i proved them wring. Now what should I do with my cash?^.^
There are too many Pokemon fanatics on this site. I have never played Pokemon. Don't give a poop about Pokemon. Managed to guess half of these anyway. Yet that's worth 0 points.
Gen 7 was the best there ever was the best there ever is and the best there ever will be (but some other non-gen 7s have a special place in my heart)MUDKIP LOLZ 4 EVER
Am I the only one who doesn't spit on previous generations... I mean gen 2 and gen 4 were pretty bad in my opinion but that doesn't mean I don't have to know them and absolutely hate on them.
Probably already mentioned a million times but most of those pokemon have more than one type and thus more than one answer as well as one answer for more than one option
(Also if you like Pokemon, try my Pokemon silhouette quiz!)
I do love Gen 1 though, as I love all the gens
also "muk" and "seel" hello anyone?
also, trubbish's ears look like a trash bag knot lol! clever!
shoo now, genwunner

Just a suggestion, great quiz otherwise.
