"which has hosted the Olympics and has a current population < 15 million"

Finland is missing (Summer Olympics Helsinki 1952)

Should Bosnia count for the Olympics one as Sarajevo hosted in 1984, or no because it was still part of Yugoslavia at the time?
+8
Level 89

Shouldn't Bosnia and Herzegovina be included since it hosted the winter Olympics in 1984 and it's population fits the criteria? Or was it omitted because it was part of Yugoslavia back then?

By usual JetPunk practice it should count

Agreed. Either Bosnia should count or there should be a caveat that the modern day country had to host the Olympics.

Australia has Norfolk Island

Fiji has the Lau Island group parts of which were ruled by Tonga

Kiribati is in Micronesia

The anomaly is the UK which definitely has territory in Polynesia. Although Pitcairn was uninhabited when the Bounty mutineers arrived it is within the geographic boundary of Polynesia and there is archaeological evidence of previous settlement by Polynesians

I would generally agree, as the answers could be different depending on whether you're talking about area or population. However, in this case, these three are the only three with a larger area, and there aren't any with a larger population than Switzerland.
