I am having a tough time, I get about 80 ish stations in and my progress slows to a halt, freezing and sluggish response. I am using a mac and have tried safari and firefox. Any ideas why this keeps happening on this particular quiz?

It is a rather large quiz, which is probably why you're having the performance issues. I use Chrome for my testing, which generally has a better JS speed. I would recommend trying it in Chrome and closing any other non-essential applications on your computer

I like that you allow abbreviations like rd, st, and br. Any chance of adding "jn" for junction?

And there already is a short version of Junction, which is 'jtn'.

I got all of 31 ... thanks mostly to English football, Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper.

Would've gotten a ton more if I knew when to append Road, Street, Square, Gate or Park.

For Londoners, this must be a wonderfully challenging quiz.

+1
Level 53

Yes, there are the "new" lines of:

-Liberty (Romford to Upminster)

-Lioness (Watford Junction to Euston)

-Mayfield (Richmond + Clapham Junction to Stratford)

-Suffragette (Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside)

-Weaver (Liverpool Street to Enfield Town and Cheshunt to Chingford)

-Windrush (Highbury & Islington to New Cross, Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace and West Croydon)

Thameslink really really isn't a "tube line". TFL don't even include it on the status updates on the webpage. (Including the likes of the trams is also a bit of a stretch, but at least they are managed by TFL). Maybe change the quiz description so it doesn't just say "tube"?

Including Thameslink but ignoring the large number of other national rail operated stations doesn’t really make much sense - Southeastern and SWR in particular both serve vast numbers of stations in London that aren’t included in the quiz. You should either exclude any station that isn’t strictly operated by TfL, or open it to all stations within London of all rail types.
+1
Level 31
Dec 31, 2024
I based it on the current standard Tube map available on tfl's website:

https://tfl.gov.uk/maps/track/tube

For whatever reason, they include the Thameslink service, so I included it in the quiz as well

+1
Level 85
May 26, 2025
I feel like what would make more sense is if the quiz didn't have the Overground, DLR, Tramlink, Elizabeth Line, Thameslink, or Cable Car. Then you're left with the actual Tube stations.
+1
Level 74

Blame the politicians in the Greater London Assembly for this piece of inconsistent idiocy. TfL didn't want to include it, and begrudgingly did when the Bank branch of the Northern line was closed for the Bank station upgrade, and now cannot get rid of it.

The three stations north of Finsbury Park on Thameslink see just a few peak Thameslink trains per day (at one point since its inclusion it was just a late night northbound train each day, which went from Kings Cross to a depot - ie not through the core - but was using Class 700s and so was Thameslink rather than Great Northern), whereas a lot of missing NR lines see turn up and go frequencies all day.

Ditch Thameslink off the tube map (which is a TfL brand map, for tea towels and t-shirts, jigsaws and jumpers) and get the Rail and Tube map in the few meaningful places that it isn't already the map - the Central London map in carriages, and the little folding paper maps (though arguably they are souvenirs too).

Nitpickiest nitpick in existence, but...

I notice that Edgware Road counts as two answers, but Paddington and Hammersmith each only count as one. It should be consistent one way or another. I would be one for making each of them two separate answers, since that's how they are officially counted.

Also, less of a nitpick, but the "sudbury tn" type-in doesn't work, despite every other "town" allowing it.

+1
Level 74
May 25, 2025
Edgware Road is two separate stations. to change here you have to walk 1/4 mile outside. Really they should have different names. You can't even see one from the other.

I don't think this applies at paddington, Hammersmith I agree with.

+1
Level 90
Dec 28, 2025
Paddington is officially two separate tube stations, but the National Rail station complicates it. The 'Bishops Road' station is adjacent to the mainline terminus platforms, the 'Praed Street' station have a within-gateline link to the Elizabeth line platforms, which is considered part of the NR station.

But it's a can of worms to use official stations in how many you score - does Canary Wharf count as three (DLR, LU and NR)? Or Liverpool Street, Shadwell, Blackfriars, London Bridge, Euston, etc as two?

this is barely functional. the whole point of having the map is so you can use it to help in filling the stations in, but most of them do not appear on the map so you have to use the list instead. what's the point of the map if it doesn't work?

Mirroring the majority of recent comments here - the map is a little pointless if the station names don't appear. I'm assuming from the lack of activity/responses on here that the quizmaker is no longer on this site, so I doubt this will be updated sadly.

Sorry, but DLR, Elizabeth line, London Trams, Overground and Thameslink (which is not even TfL operated) are not tube lines. In fact, if you get nerdy, 'Tube' refers to the deep-running Underground lines, e.g. Bakerloo, Central, Jubilee, Northern, PIccadilly, Victoria and Waterloo & City lines, and not the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan sub-surface lines. You could of course leave the IFS cloud cable car in...

Maybe this quiz should be rechristened 'TfL rail and Thameslink'.

+1
Level 90
Dec 28, 2025
The quiz is the stations / stops (but not River Boat piers) on the tube map.

Other than maybe changing the description to make that clear, your issues are not with the people here on this website...
