There might be mistakes on this. I was making the quiz, going along fine, making sure everything was kosher and carefully copying and pasting all the standard regex type-ins from the countries of the world quiz so it would be consistent. Then realized that the quiz editor limits the number of type-ins to 10. I had to redo the whole dang quiz. Searching for something else with more than 10 type-ins (copied the countries that beat Russia quiz)...and then it was still a huge pain in the ass because there weren't enough regex spaces for each question. Had to get pretty creative. And by the end I was pretty tired and frustrated but I think it all should work.

There's a way around this! If you put forward slashes between answers in Step 2 they'll appear as different lines in Step 3. And this overrules the 10 maximum AND recognises official typeins!

For example, putting "Hawaii / Florida / Alaska / Canada" in an answer box in Step 2 will result in 4 auto-generated rows (with their recognised typeins) in Step 3. Then if you switch that type-in to custom, you can then change the text in Step 2 however you like (changing slashes to commas, removing excess words etc...).

Also you can even use this method to get more typein boxes, then switch to Custom and just change everything, it'll hold the extra boxes.

Finally, you can use a tactic Scambigol used in the "by borders" quizzes where if you put a "|" at the end of a typein, it counts as a logical OR. meaning you can concatenate multiple typeins. E.g. "^FLORIDA|^MIS+IS+IP+I|^ALASKA" is identical to having those three on separate lines.

Hope this helps you out!

I did use the Scambigol tactic, that's what I meant when I said I had to get creative. But thanks!

I wish I had thought of that before I re-made the whole quiz, though.

I was thinking of doing this for my quizzes, because I also get to 10 typeins and need more.

Stats that Tuvalu is actually #1 in:

Lowest highest point

smallest military (none, tie)

lowest HIV adult prevalence rate (none, tie, UN AIDS counts 10 sex workers in the entire country)

Something else Tuvalu is #1 in: smallest economy in the world, regardless of how you measure.

I remember reading many years ago that something like 20% of Tuvalu's revenue comes from the fact that they own the internet suffix ".tv" for URLs, as a result of their country name (like ".us" and ".uk"). So any television network or show that wants to end their domain with ".tv" needs to pay a licensing fee to Tuvalu. I actually read that in a book about the Simpsons. Can't remember why it was in there.

The Maldives is the flattest country in the world so I guess the average elevation difference across the whole country is the smallest, but it must have one or two atolls that stick up a bit more out of the water because Tuvalu's highest point is considered lower.

Things that I would have liked to have added but could not find good data for:

1. SPAM consumption per capita. Pretty sure they're near the top of the list. The American territory of Guam is #1 worldwide, and Hawaii is the #1 US State, but I couldn't find a list of countries.

2. Tattoos. I believe the majority of Tuvaluans have tattoos somewhere on their bodies, but I couldn't find a list of countries by tattoo popularity that included Oceania.

3. Guano production/capita. I'm not sure if this is still an important industry, but it used to be the most important in Tuvalu and they produced huge quantities of the stuff.

4. Fewest languages spoken. From what I could uncover, there are only 2-4 languages spoken in the country which is pretty remarkable. I'm not sure if there is anywhere with fewer spoken languages.

4 could be vatican city or monaco or nauru

I'm sure that both the Vatican and Monaco have many many many more languages spoken there than Tuvalu does, considering how many immigrants (100% in the Vatican!) each country hosts.

5. and finally, would have loved to have added something about coconut production/consumption, but couldn't find any complete lists for either. I found one list that ranked Sri Lanka as the #1 consumer of coconut per capita in the world at 72 kg/person annually, but that list did not include data on Tuvalu. I found something that said annual coconut production in Tuvalu is, if my math is correct, about 148 kg/person. So... if they consume anywhere near the amount that they produce, they should either surpass or be very near to Sri Lanka in terms of consumption.

Loved this quiz! It really made me think. Just wondered, does Vatican City actually have a Parliament? I thought it was an absolute monarchy, and all my searching seems to confirm this.

Hope to see many more great quizzes.

this was my source for that. It says that the Vatican has a unicameral legislative body consisting of 7 members, tying with the Cocos Islands for the smallest legislature in the world. Clicking through the source cited for the Vatican takes you to the Vatican's state website, which lists 7 members of the Pontifical Commission, which I assume is the body being referenced. The last time it was convened was in 2014.

Very nice quiz! I love it so I nominate this quiz. A few months ago, after taking this quiz, I've made an other countries that beat quiz in French and, yesterday, I've translated it in English. Can the quizmaker of this quiz give me his opinion about my quiz? Thank you very much!

Why have so few people gotten the Maldives? The average height is 1.5 meters there...
+1

Probably because it's one of only two clues with a single possible answer, and the Maldives' flatness is not as generally well-known as the Vatican's smallness.

It's probably number 1 in fewest automobiles. There's only one, belonging to the only hotel. Everyone else has motorscooters (and they drive like crazy on the 1.5 roads). Also number 1 in most sports played on an active airport runway (the only public space on Funafuti).

The phrasing "Least rainfall" is dubious, I first thought that it was a very dry country. I second figured you meant "Most total rainfall received over entire territory", as phrased in "Countries that beat Russia" for example
