Could you update this sometime? Some of the names have changed in the past few years (such as Grindavik) and 4 of the municipalities merged to create Mula(thorn)ing in the east
(speaking of thorn, could you also accept "th" for the instances of thorn as that's how its said in english)
For the non-Icelandic speaking folks, almost all the long names are compound words made of a limited number of geographical terms like beach, bay, fjord, mountain, municipality, farm combined together with each other or with proper names to form place names. For example, Reykjavik is a compound of (roughly) reyk+vik, meaning “smoky+bay”. Learning the compounding words can make it much easier to remember municipalities’ names.
One easy way to update this map is to apply the name of the merged municipality as an alternative answer to the former municipalities. For example, you could list "Mulaþing" as an alternative answer for the four municipalities that merged and took that name. And giving that answer would simply color all four of those former municipalities green. Otherwise, updating this quiz by reconfiguring the SVG map is a lot more work.

**Somebody mentioned that it accepts "t" as well but it's not very consistent from what I've seen
