Interesting. So... does this mean that Christmas IS a holiday in places like Bangladesh, Mali, Chad? Wouldn't really expect that if true. Perhaps the legacy of European colonialism? Funny that Israel is on the list. They could make some really authentic Nativity scenes I bet. Israel doesn't celebrate Christmas but Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon do? Again, if true, very weird. I currently split most of my time between Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, and Thailand. I can verify that Christmas is definitely NOT celebrated in Saudi. They go to great pains to ensure that non-Muslim holidays are not observed there at all. On the other hand, in Thailand it is a huge event especially around tourist areas, and in Bahrain and the UAE if you visit the airport around Christmas time you would think you were in some 100% Christian country, not a place that is majority Muslim. They really love the consumerism side of it and go all out in decorating.
Yes Christmas is indeed a holiday in Bangladesh, Mali and Chad, see http://www.qppstudio.net/publicholidays2013/bangladesh.htm for example. Most non-Christian countries celebrate Christmas either as a colonial legacy or they do have a sizeable Christian minorities.
