The only reason people say is larger is because they count the water area in the USA, which is bias because they do it to no other country.

They actually count territorial waters, specifically. (The CIA does this) I make this point because all inland water area is counted toward land area. Lakes make up a large part of Canadian land area.

Imagine if Bangladesh hadn't been split off of Pakistan. That would move Pakistan nicely up the ranks, from #6 to #3 (bigger than the US).

Using just land area, China is larger in size than the USA. With water area added, the United States overtakes China

What source do you use? Some sources like the CIA include territorial/coastal waters in the US' area, but not for China. China would be bigger if these waters weren't included, even if inland waters (like lakes) were included. The fact that the CIA can say that China is, and I quote, 'slightly smaller than the United States' because of this is, surely, a coincidence.
