A few corrections are in order : in French, we spell "giraffe" with only one 'f', a crayfish is an "écrevisse". For "sea lion" the most common translation a French person would go for is "otarie", a kangaroo is spelt "kangourou" and "hibou" is an alternative translation of "owl".

sorry, I meant "chouette" is an alternative spelling for "owl"

Seal means "otarie" or "phoque" which are both "pinnipèdes". "Campagnol" does not end with a "e". And the other mistakes my compatriot has already noticed.

Do we think maybe Oryctérope is acceptable for the longer Oryctérope du Cap? You would think that by getting the hard part right the rest would fill in...

I agree, there are no other orytérope than this one, and aardwark just refers to oryctérope.

There is no reason to accept "langouste" instead of "écrevisse" for "crayfish". Those are different animals, like the lobster. In fact "crayfish" derived from "écrevisse".

Aso you should accept "ours polaire" for "polar bear", it is widely used too.

Remarks from a french:

* "oryctérope" is enough to describe aardvark

* "tortoise" translates to "tortue géante" ("turtle" really means "tortue")

Some diacritics should be added.
