that's a nonsence. It would be like calling USA as Texas, Canada as Alberta, Italy as Tuscany, Germany like Bavaria..... and many more

Holland is just one part of Netherlands, quizmaster, please stop accepting it.

Although it is technically incorrect, it is an extremely widely known 'colloquialism'. It would be similar to calling the USA 'America' when in fact America is two continents.

It's not a country. And it's still owned by France. Hence "French" Guiana.
