The US map is JetPunk's standard U.S. States SVG map. I added the circles

Love it. I feel bad for missing a team that brought us the joy of 3rd and goal from their own 7. Cincy was my other bad miss (apologies to the Kelce family). It would be a somewhat different challenge (for some of us) if the answers were arranged in conferences.

had quite the brain fart on this one lol forgot Notre dame and Baylor. Great quiz! I wish you'd accept Louisiana Monroe without the dash or just Monroe.

JetPunk only cares about letters and numbers, so the dash shouldn't matter.

Great quiz! I think that putting the answers by conference would be very helpful.

Actually I like it the way it is, there already is one of these which classifies them by conference. Makes it a little different and different challenge to remember.

Was Dayton left off? Or did they drop out of FBS? For some reason I was thinking they were FBS.

Dayton last played in the top level of college football in 1976. They spent 1977 to 1992 in Division III, and in 1993 moved up to Division I-AA (now Division I FCS), where they have been ever since

"Pitt" should be accepted if other abbreviations like "Cal" are accepted.

You should accept ULM for Louisiana Monroe... especially if it accepts FIU for Florida International and FAU for Florida Atlantic.

Forgot Airforce

See when you go to the Army-Navy game this is what happens, I guess

You should probably not allow USC as a type-in since it is the common abbreviation for two different schools (South Carolina and Southern Cal).
+4
Level 75

Thanks for the suggestion, but I respectfully disagree. Within the world of college football, USC unambiguously refers to Southern Cal.

Fans of South Carolina do not like this, and continue to refer to their school as USC in local contexts, but this is not how national media handle the situation.

This is supported by the fact that the Wikipedia's common name for Southern Cal is USC, and articles about Southern Cal are all titled with USC, while articles about South Carolina are all titled with South Carolina.

Are you gonna actually include Fresno's name? It's not called Fresno state, it's California State University, Fresno. No CSU Fresno... No Cal State Fresno... Why?

Level 75

Within the context of college football, schools are rarely referred to by the full name of their institution. These football teams have their own branding and are referred to with common and consistent names across college football media coverage.

The football team representing California State University, Fresno is never, ever referred to as "California State University, Fresno" within the context of college football. The football team is unambiguously known as the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Since this quiz is about college football teams and not institutions of higher learning per se, I'm not going to accept the conceit that people are typing in "University of X" for every answer. Please just type in the accepted name of the football team.

Could you make North Las Vegas an acceptable answer for UNLV, because I kept typing North Las Vegas and it never came up. I understand that the abbreviation is more commonly used, but if el paso and UTEP, both work, I feel like both of these should also work.

Otherwise, great quiz!

UNLV stands for "University of Nevada, Las Vegas", not "University of North Las Vegas"...

"Nevada Las Vegas" and "Las Vegas" are both already accepted.

Perhaps you are making a local Nevada joke that I am not getting ...
