That's not true at all. First of all, it's not "pre-made" by anyone. It's an automatically generated list based on user ratings.
Secondly, it's not really a list of the best punk albums on that site because if you just search their charts for punk, it's going to include any subgenre of punk like post-punk and metalcore unless you are more specific. Really they should have just searched the top albums listed under punk/punk rock/hardcore punk and excluded sub-genres.
nice quiz. missed two of the ramones albums cause not particularly fond of them. annoyed that i missed 154 considering map ref is one of my favorite wire songs.
ridiculous quiz.at least 12 of these album's are not punk . no black flag .circle jerks .damned .exploited. bad brains.talking heads were a great band but no way a punk band.
Most of these albums aren't even good. Music people always treat punk like some fad that existed from 1976-1981, so anything released during that period automatically gets bumped on any list. A handful of those bands were really good, but a lot of it was just noise. The Sex Pistols in particular were really important from a historical and philosophical perspective, but that album has three good songs on it. The absences of the Damned, the Buzzcocks, Rancid, NOFX, the Bouncing Souls, Cock Sparrer, Green Day, Social D, and Bad Religion are pretty baffling when you consider some of the albums that made this list.
