Gave up at 91. Got Patna, Haikou, and Palembang (probably in part because of my best airports and oldest cities quizzes), but somehow managed to miss Mumbai.
I set myself the goal of getting everything over 5 million this time around. Zhengzhou and Wenzhou were my downfall. It amazes me that China has so many massive cities that metropolises as big or bigger than Sydney or St Petersburg can fly under the radar.
The average has now moved down to 71. I guess a few more regular folks tried their hand at this... and maybe a few less looking up the source and just transposing the names.
If anyone is interessted; if you add up all these numbers you get to a total of 1.000.360.000 people living in these 200 cities with an average of 5.001.800 people per city. Yes, I know I'm a numbers geek.
If you type in random sequences of letters that end in -zhou, you're bound to get almost 25% of Chinese cities. Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Lanzhou, Zhengzhou, Changzhou, Quanzhou, Fuzhou, Suzhou...
I swear, if I ever meet anyone who has memorized every single cities in China with more than 1 million people, I'll give them $1,000 and then ask them to teach me their ways.
