Interesting quiz. People taking this will no doubt see that, with a few outliers, it is largely a regional phenomenon. Most of the countries with a slightly higher percentage of men (Afghanistan, China, India, Pakistan) have very misogynistic societies openly hostile toward women. Women in these countries are more likely to die from before birth (selective abortions) and on through their whole lives (inadequate female health care, higher rates of suicide, honor killings). The countries at the top of the list (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi, Jordan) have all of those issues, plus they also run on slave labor- cheap expat workers imported by the millions from other countries. Dubai is 85% foreigner, most of those being male expat workers from India, Bangladesh, etc. On the other side we see countries with more women than men are mostly former Soviet or Soviet-satellite countries. Stagnating economies have been forcing able-bodied men to go elsewhere for work for decades.
Also when you have stagnating countries, and all abled people leave (including the women) then you are going to have a population with a greater elderly proportion. Women live longer, so having a large elderly population amplifies the ratio.
