Surprising how many things I expected to see on this quiz that weren't. Cities like: Budapest, Bucharest, Birmingham, Belfast, Belgrade, etc.

Berlin should be in there

Why? Way too easy. Just because start with a b it does not HAVE to be on here. In fact I think the names you see over and over on other quizzes should NOT be on here. Time to broaden your horizon and not be a one trick wonder.

I really thought that Belgrade will be here, it's one of the oldest cities in Europe.

In other words, there are lots of places that begin with B in Europe - you can't have them all otherwise the quiz would become more like an exam at school. Have some realistic expectations

Dictatorship? ..... how about The Vatican ........A dictatorship is an authoritarian form of government, characterized by a single leader or group of leaders and little or no toleration for political pluralism

Well it's in quotes, which suggests it's just a common saying, not a hard fact, although your comment raises interesting questions about the nature of Vatican citizenship. I think like 5% of the Vatican's very tiny population is female, so I doubt many people are born Vatican citizens. That life is something you opt into, not come into. I also doubt that the college of cardinals spends a lot of time on civil law. I'd imagine they mostly adopt Italian law, with some modifications to cohere with Catholic doctrine. It's probably a dictatorship in the literal sense, but it's definitely different in its effects from what makes dictators so terrible.

@Jmellor13

1) There have never been any female citizens of The Vatican

2) Nobody is born a citizen of The Vatican

Strange comment Malbaby. The Vatican is not usually referred to as a dictatorship. Popes are elected by cardinals, who follow strict traditions. If we want to get technical, the Vatican is an absolute monarchy. It is strange to call an absolute monarch a dictator, because monarch rely on seemingly legitimate power through tradition. Dictators have some other claim to power, like through force. The Vatican, as far as I'm concerned, is not a dictatorship and it is silly to call it as such.

That is a distinction that only exists in your mind, likely shaped by the context in which each term is commonly used. But any absolute monarchy is a dictatorship by definition, since all the power is concentrated on one person, who can dictate whatever they want in terms of policy.

It's just that dictatorship is a more modern term (excluding ancient roman use, which was somewhat diferent).

Nope, it's a distinction that exists right in my explanation above. Go read a basic Wikipedia explanation of the difference.

Having "Ben Nevis" under B is like having "Mount Everest" under E.

Ben Nevis is actually an anglicisation of the Scottish Gaelic name Beinn Nibheis, Beinn meaning 'mountain'.

This comment is garbled, but Ben Nevis is definitely categorised under "N".

There's Ben Lomond famously, and plenty of other mountains with the Ben name. Mount Blanc would be under B not M.

The EU has three capitals: Brussels (executive), Luxembourg (judiciary) and Strasbourg (legislative). Now, I know that, of those, only Brussels starts with a B, but since Brussels is often incorrectly referred to as "the" capital of the EU, would you consider changing the clue to "Executive capital of the EU" or "one of the three capitals of the EU"? I mean, the clue is correct as it is, but I think it would be better with the change. Many thanks in advance!

The "official capital" is Brussels. It's like the UK: Belfast, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and London are capitals of "something", but overall, the authorized capital is London.

That's what I was worried about: people being confused. It's absolutely *not* like that, Sirgomboach. The UK has only one official capital, but the EU absolutely has three official capitals. If you want to compare the UK to the EU, London is comparable to Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg, while Edinburgh or Cardiff are comparable to Paris, Berlin, Rome... or any other capital of a Member State that is *not* a capital of the Union.
